At SAE Institute we have been cultivating creativity since 1976.
We have stayed true to our ideals and that’s what makes us the

minds which made it the perfect choice for SAE’s global headquarters. World renowned bands
from Radiohead to Supergrass and Mr Hudson hail from here, keeping the scene fresh. Look
beyond the charm of the city’s cobbled streets and you’ll find a plethora of the latest digital
innovations used by the city’s independent film makers, music producers, digital app, game
and design agencies, all applying brilliant minds to achieving exceptional things.
london
London, a capital city bursting with opportunity. Constantly producing the freshest beats, films,
animations and designs; the city never fails to get the creative juices of every student flowing
when they walk through our doors. London’s SAE campus is based in the uber hip area of
Shoreditch and is surrounded by the biggest online global brands and newest start-ups. An
epi-centre of world culture; inspiration is all around for the taking, offering every student the
right to express and create their own brand of creativity in the digital media world to become
legends of the future.
Liverpool
From the hedonistic riffs of the world’s most powerful EDM force, Cream, to the rocking
bass lines of the underground cellar bars, Liverpool’s heart beats with a resonance that flows
through the cultural mesh of the city’s creatives and into the veins of every SAE student. Now a
burgeoning scene for filming and games with many independent studios basing themselves in
the city, there are even more opportunities for our graduates, determined to further their skills
and make their mark on the industry.
glasgow
Glasgow’s pride is the soul of the city - a city hell bent on retaining their fiercely independent
reputation for creating works of digital, film and musical genius that always seeks to break the
boundaries of creativity... No copies, no imitations and no limitations have seen international
brands and SAE students flock here to pick up on the contagiously competitive vibe.

the art of storytelling
Writing for the screen is a very specific creative writing skill and one that requires
a thorough understanding of how visual storytelling operates. This module asks

Producing non-fictional works requires a critical understanding of the complex
historic and contemporary societal, economic and political influences affecting the

introduction to 3d animation
We start your journey by introducing you to the techniques used for content
creation and animation. By providing an insight into the 3D modelling process
we show you how standard workflow operations occur in a 3D pipeline, outlining
the design process from your first idea to a finished 2D/3D animation. Then, via
a range of practical explorations you will apply the theory side to the animation
process, giving you a solid foundation of methods needed throughout the course.
information, communication and Professional Media
practice
In this module we introduce you to proven concepts and routines of academic
research, critique and writing, and nurture these skills to ensure that you apply
good study practice and management throughout your studies. We aim to
familiarise you with the theories of culture and communication and develop a
basic understanding of the creative media industries and your potential role as a
professional creative media practitioner. Together, all of these skills will help you

introduction to animation for vfx
After first understanding the crucial elements of creative thinking and decision
making, you will then develop the fundamental skills to create and tell a story using
visual effects techniques. This is achieved through a thorough exploration of pre-
production and planning processes as well as development of production skills
that can be used in film as well as game animation. You will discuss, analyse and
plan the setup of a shot, demonstrating the techniques needed to create a mood
that fits with the artistic direction.
animation and modelling principles and techniques
In this module you will learn the systems and tools used in the creation of 3D
content, including the implementation of complex textures, sophisticated lighting
and the various animation and modelling techniques. You will find out how to
analyse and design images and animations for a range of professional contexts,
developing the skills you need to design an entire environment in 3D, whilst
demonstrating a practical understanding of the production pipeline.
applied production techniques and the production
pipeline
In order to plan and create complex 3D scenes with textured and shaded
environments and characters, you must first develop your systematical and
technical understanding of the 3D production process. To this end you will explore
many effects of lighting, rendering and camera setups, ending in your ability to
produce complex rendered multipass animations.
Elective module
You are given the opportunity to choose an elective from a bank of modules.
Each campus can advise which of the electives may be available to you and
provide further advice to assist you in selecting an option that is reflective of your

Investing in Your Future
As any creative media professional will tell you, forging a
career in the creative media industries requires passion,
patience and dedication in addition to your talent and the
skills acquired through your higher educational experience.
There is no denying that your education may also require a
confirmed financial commitment.
We understand that finding the money to invest in your
future is not always easy, in particular if you don‘t have
an income. Fortunately SAE Institute offer payment plan
options to help pay for your tuition fees.
Funding
Access to Student Loans through the Student Loan
Company
At the time of going to print (January 2015) all of the courses we offer are
“Designated”. Designation allows students to access funding for their course in the
usual way.
SAE Institute is a private institution, this means that student tuition fee loans will not
cover the full tuition fee.
There may be also be some differences depending on where you are usually
resident and the information below provides a guide towards what you could be
entitled to as well as where you can find more detailed information.
Applicants to SAE Institute who are eligible for student finance may also be entitled
to access maintenance loans in a similar way to applicants studying at publically
funded institutions. These are not capped in the same way as fee loans.
BIS (the Government Department of Business, Industry & Skills) requires Alternative
Providers to undergo annual designation monitoring as a condition of continued
designation. This allows students to access support from the Student Loans
Company. If this designation monitoring is not successful, students would not be
entitled to funding. SAE Institute has been successful in achieving and maintaining
designation for all its courses to date. Any updates on our “designation” status will
be posted on our website.
If you have any questions around designation, or would like to speak to us, please
do not hesitate to get in touch.

Funding Access to Student Loans through the Student Loan Company At the time of going to print (January 2015) all of the courses we offer are “Designated”. Designation allows students to access funding for their course in the usual way. SAE Institute is a private institution, this means that student tuition fee loans will not cover the full tuition fee. There may be also be some differences depending on where you are usually resident and the information below provides a guide towards what you could be entitled to as well as where you can find more detailed information. Applicants to SAE Institute who are eligible for student finance may also be entitled to access maintenance loans in a similar way to applicants studying at publically funded institutions. These are not capped in the same way as fee loans. BIS (the Government Department of Business, Industry & Skills) requires Alternative Providers to undergo annual designation monitoring as a condition of continued designation. This allows students to access support from the Student Loans Company. If this designation monitoring is not successful, students would not be entitled to funding. SAE Institute has been successful in achieving and maintaining designation for all its courses to date. Any updates on our “designation” status will be posted on our website. If you have any questions around designation, or would like to speak to us, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
