2. Introduction
Largest Epic of the World.
Narrative of the
Kurukshetra war.
18 days war between
Kauravas and Pandavas.
Kauravas :11 Akshouhini
Pandavas : 7 Akshouhini
*1 Akshouhini = 21,870
chariots, 21,870 elephants,
65,610 horses and 109,350
foot-soldiers (in a ratio of
1:1:3:5)
3. SO HOW DID THE PANDAVAS WIN???
Ever wondered how Pandavas won the war of Mahabharta
despite having handful of resources in front of an endless army
of Kauravas? The answer is hidden the management lessons
which Pandavas learnt and the tips given by lord Krishna which
are still useful in the status quo. The situation is same, the only
thing which has changed is that now we are Pandavas with
limited resources, somewhere lost in this big world with the
fear of losing and competing against the endless hurdles in
front of us. The kauravas are the established giants with never
ending resources and the burden is on our self to prove our
mettle against them. The lessons taught by Mahabharata are
the best management guide one can ever have.
4. Transform your
weakness into
strengths
The Pandavas were thrown
out of their kingdom with no
resources and were forced to
live in exile. During exile they
turned their focus in improving
their weakness by trying to
get Divyastras, getting
teachings from saints etc.
which helped them to win the
war.
5. Make powerful
allies
Pandavas had no wealth,
no power, and no kingdom
but had powerful allies
including the supreme
power, Lord Krishna. Even
if you are lacking
resources be good with
your networking which
will help you to have an
upper hand at the time of
crisis.
6. Decentralization
of power
The Pandavas’ army
consisted of 7
Akshauhini (1
Akshauhini= 21,870
chariots, 21,870, 65,610
cavalry and 109,350
infantry) and hence they
made 7 commanders for
the seven divisions
contrary to centralized
leadership of Kauravas.
7. Teamwork is
always greater than
individual efforts
The Pandavas were
united as a team with
utter respect for Lord
Krishna and Yudhisthira.
They acted as one team
with one goal while
Kauravas had no team
spirit.
8. Get the right man for
the right job
When Pandavas were asked to
make a choice between the Lord
Krishna and the entire army of Lord
Krishna, they went choosing Lord
Krishna instead of his enormous
army. Lord Krishna, which was the
greatest crisis manager formulated
all the strategies which proved as
biggest resource helping Pandavas
to win. He also motivated Arjuna,
making him win the war
9. Know your
competitor’s
weakness
Many of Kauravas changed
their sides when
Yudhisthira made an offer
to them to change their
side by coming becoming
an ally of Pandavas. This
had happened because of
lack of cohesiveness in
Kauravas which was their
weakness, leading to
defeat in the war.
10. Motivation is the
key of success
When Arjuna denied to fight
against his relatives and kill
them, Lord Krishna stood up,
motivated him, and thus
Bhagvad Geeta was formed.
The strong motivation given by
Krishna at the time of need led
to the epic victory of
Pandavas.
11. Dedication is always greater than
capability
Abhimanyu, who only knew how to enter in a
Chakravyuh but did not know how to exit from
it, still took the risk to enter it and fight. He
knew that he will end up losing his life but
the dedication towards winning the war
resulted in creating a huge loss to army of
enemies by him.
12. Have commitment towards work
not results
The quality of performance of the current job will
suffer when we only work for getting the results
because of anxiety for the future. The results do not
always respond positively to our calculations. Hence
the Mahabharata, through Geeta tells us not to
tradeoff present commitment to an uncertain future
or work only for the sake of getting results.
