1. To Whom It May Concern, September 12, 2014
I am writing to recommend Khaled al Khaldi, who was employed by the Gaza Gateway for ten
months. The Gaza Gateway is a pilot project of UNWRA, Gaza Field Office, to establish a social
enterprise for IT employment. Khaled was employed in November, 2013, as a Project Associate
on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project, to deliver services to UNRWA’s ERP system
development and rollout.
In preparation, the Project Assistants underwent the following study:
1. November – December 2013:
Project Associates studied basic business concepts including management topics, business models
and governance, public and private sector organizations, marketing, supply chain, human
resources, and accounting in business and non-profit organizations.
Project Associates also studied basic consulting tools, including business analysis and business
process mapping.
2. January – March 2014:
Project Associates received detailed training and coaching from UNRWA staff, Gaza Gateway
and ERP specialists in:
UNRWA current business processes in human resources, operations, project and grant
management.
Design phase documentation for ERP including workflows, system requirements
(blueprints), and training material on the demonstration environment (UPerform).
SAP modules for Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain Management and Public
Sector Management.
3. March – July:
Project Associates quality assured ERP training materials:
Phase 1 - Reviewing workflows to ensure the clarity, consistency and appropriateness of
workflow logic and narrative; editing and correcting cosmetic errors in content and formatting;
and quality reporting.
Phase 2- Reviewing UPerform and all associated media (Standard Tutorial, Self-Test Tutorial,
Auto Playback Tutorial, and Assessment Tutorial) for consistency, integrity and clarity,
confirming results when using scenario data and values, and detailed issue and error reporting.
Phase 3- Validating each UPerform by testing the UPerform scenario & the quick reference
(objective and UPerform steps) documentation and coding on the SAP system.
2. Each Project Associate also had
Access to the SAP Learning Hub to pursue areas of individual interest, and a set of SAP
manuals to study generic SAP systems, modules and business processes.
Five days of training on ERP end-user training theory and exercises, by SAP-ERP qualified
trainers in Finance, Supply Chain Management and Public Sector Management.
Group study of international ICT competency frameworks, with individual ICT profiles and
assessments to help chart professional directions.
Structured group work on the following professional skills and competencies: time
management, professional communications, corporate change management, presentation and
facilitation.
Khaled also took part in the planning and presentation of ERP introductory workshops to
UNRWA personnel.
The Gaza Gateway’s delivery of ERP services was disrupted by conflict in July and August of
2014. Due to changes in the operating environment, and within the ERP workflow itself,
UNRWA and the Gaza Gateway have decided not to proceed with the ERP project at this time.
Khaled al Khaldi has gained a wide basic knowledge of business and ERP systems through the
ERP project. He has also shown himself to be an advanced, original and creative thinker in
technical fields, tireless in pursuit of knowledge and solutions.
I am pleased to commend Khaled al Khaldi to you for any position that would suit this
background.
Please feel free to contact me if further information would be helpful.
Best regards,
