A
aron Conrad has spent the past three
years not only learning how to wres-
tle, but how to wrestle with his fa-
ther as his coach.
“Having my dad coach me is
both, good and bad,” said the 18-year-old Conrad, a
senior standout for his dad, Fred Conrad, this season
on the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High
wrestling mat. “It’s good because he’s always going
to be there for me, but we do bump heads at times.
It doesn’t bother me. Sometimes it can carry over to
home, but we’ll cool off quickly.”
Wrestling at 195 pounds, Conrad has gone un-
defeated this season at 31-0 and boasts a career
mark of 108-17 for the Tro-
jans, who have gone 16-3-1
in Fred Conrad’s first full
season at the B-R helm head-
ing into Wednesday night’s
regular-season finale at Dur-
fee High.
After going 34-4 last sea-
son as a junior at 160 pounds
en route to winning both, a
Div. 1 South Sectional title and a state title, Conrad
has raised the bar for the remainder of his senior
campaign.
“For the rest of the season, I’m hoping to win it
all,” said the Trojans’ tri-captain. “I want to win
sectionals, states and keep on competing. I also
want to continue wrestling in college.”
The East Bridgewater resident went to East
Bridgewater High as a freshman before transferring
to Bridgewater-Raynham where he first began tak-
ing wrestling seriously as a sophomore.
“I’ve just been surrounded by great people who
push me so I can be successful,” said Conrad.
“(Former B-R wrestling coach) Jeff Francis, who
isn’t with the program anymore, was like a father,
“For the rest
of the season,
I’m hoping to
win it all.”

THE PATRIOT LEDGER
WILMINGTON – Many will re-
member it as the game in which Lane
MacDermid fought twice – and bat-
tered Toronto’s Mark Fraser in their
second scrap of the night.
MacDermid certainly won’t forget
that, but he’ll probably recall Satur-
day’s game at Air Canada Centre as
the one in which he just missed scoring
his first NHL goal.
“It happened so quickly,” said the
Bruins’ tough, 23-year-old winger. “I
tried my best to get it in. It was pretty
close.”
The Bruins didn’t end up needing
the goal as Chris Bourque’s first as a
Bruin was enough for a 1-0 victory.
They were pleased, though, to get that
strong second-period shift and scoring
chance from MacDermid and his line-
mates – fourth-line center Gregory
Campbell and winger Jamie Tardif,
who made his NHL debut.
The Bruins, who visit Montreal on
Wednesday night, currently have four
forwards recovering from, or nursing,
