BRYAN STEVENSON is the founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery,
Alabama. Mr. Stevenson is a widely acclaimed public interest lawyer who has dedicated his career to helping the
poor, the incarcerated and the condemned. Under his leadership, EJI has won major legal challenges eliminating
excessive and unfair sentencing, exonerating innocent death row prisoners, confronting abuse of the incarcerated and
the mentally ill and aiding children prosecuted as adults. Mr. Stevenson has successfully argued several cases in the
United States Supreme Court and recently won an historic ruling in the U.S. Supreme Court banning mandatory
life-without-parole sentences for all children 17 or younger are unconstitutional. EJI has also initiated major new
anti-poverty and anti-discrimination efforts challenging the legacy of racial inequality in America.

GIVE A YEAR. CHANGE THE WORLD.
city year is an education-focused nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to help keep students
in school and on track to graduate. In communities across the United States and through two international affiliates,
this innovative public-private partnership brings together teams of young, diverse, and highly-trained AmeriCorps
members who commit to a year of full time service in schools.
City Year Columbus places these teams to serve all day, every day throughout the school year as role models, men-
tors, and tutors in urban schools to provide academic and developmental support to students. Corps members work
with educators and implement interventions with students on attendance, behavior, math and English. They create a
positive school climate so every student has the opportunity to graduate high school, ready for college and career.
who we serve: For the 2015-2016 school year, City Year Columbus corps members serve more than 3,465 stu-
dents in six Columbus City Schools: Livingston Elementary, Trevitt Elementary, Champion Middle School, Linden
McKinley STEM Academy, Mifflin High School, and South High School, supporting four of five District feeder
school zones: Mifflin, Linden McKinley, East, and South. We have expanded our reach into the Near East Side to
replicate our previous success, while standing lockstep with Columbus City Schools and turnaround efforts in the
East High School Feeder Pattern.
