1. WSBC Portland Trail Blazers Ticket Sales Academy
2014-15: Year Two
Last Year
2014 was an amazing inaugural year for our ticket sales partnership with the Portland Trail
Blazers, surpassing all expectations.
Five WSBC members participated in the program, which generated proceeds back to the Club of
just over $2300 and provided each student with an unparalleled hands-on learning experience.
"Starting this program and working with the
Portland Trail Blazers was an incredible
learning experience for our Warsaw team. It
was an environment where creativity was
supported and encouraged, which allowed
me to learn the many sides of sales for an
NBA organization. If you're a competitively
driven individual who is looking to learn
more about how a professional sport
organization operates, this program will give
you a hands on learning experience of what
it's like to be a part of the whole picture."
Kellsey Butler, UO ‘14
The Program This Year
5-8 undergraduate members of the Warsaw Sports Business Club will be selected to sell ticket
inventory for a set of predetermined Portland Trail Blazers games occurring throughout the
winter and into early spring.
The students will spend one day on-site at the Moda Center being trained by the Portland Trail
Blazers staff on direct, telephone-based sales techniques using a pre-determined sales program
script. Training will occur before Thanksgiving.
Each student will be able to sell tickets in good-better-best categories at predetermined price
points and will be assigned an individual promo code to track sales success in the program.
Although tickets will not necessarily be sold in groups, ticket prices will be based on group rates
plus an incremental per-ticket dollar figure which will be given back to the Warsaw Sports
Business Club at the end of the ticket sales program.
The Portland Trail Blazers and the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center will provide regular sales
incentive items/experiences throughout the program, the entire group of participating students
will be recognized at center court at halftime of the game versus the San Antonio Spurs on
February 25 and the top two sellers will be granted the opportunity to interview with the
Portland Trail Blazers Inside Sales Manager.
Warsaw Sports Marketing Center student leadership and administration will support the
development of sales leads for this program (e.g., campus groups, Warsaw Center alumni)
