6. âThe Sacrament of Penance
and Reconciliation is the
privileged place
To receive Godâs mercy and
forgiveness. . .
In this sacrament, all the
baptized have a new and
Personal encounter with
Jesus Christ, . . .â
7. A Relationship in need of healing
⢠We are created in the image of the
harmonious and just relationship
within the Trinity.
⢠Sin disrupted this state of
âoriginal justice.â
⢠God continuously invites us to
return to a right and just
relationship.
⢠God never tires of forgiving us;
we are the one who tire of seeking
his mercy. (Evangelii Gaudium, no.3
8. A Relationship in need of healing
⢠We are created in Godâs image
and likeness. (Gn 1:26-27)
⢠God is relational/God exists in
relationship.
⢠We are created to be IN
relationship with God and with
others.
⢠We are created in the image of the
harmonious and just relationship
within the Trinity.
9. A Relationship in need of healing
⢠Christâs miracles during his public
ministry were primarily healings
that restored people to life in
community.
⢠Power to forgive and reconcile
belongs to God.
⢠Godâs love and mercy have
primacy in this sacrament.
10. Essential Catechesis
⢠We try our best. We are diligent
about giving the right
preparation, right?
⢠But. . . Those whom we have
prepared fail to practice the faith .
.. Where are they months or years
after they receive the sacraments?
⢠Donât get discouraged . . . But be
careful!! Letâs not lose sight of the
forest because of the trees.
11. Essential Catechesis
⢠What is truly essential? ? ?
⢠The goal of faith formation â
including the sacraments â is not
simply accumulation of
information, but rather formation
of intentional disciples of Christ.
12. Essential Catechesis â An Intentional disciple of Christ
⢠Desires to have a personal
relationship with Christ.
⢠Is NOT formed in one or two
years of faith formation.
⢠Embarks on a LIFELONG
JOURNEY to deepen the
relationship with Christ.
⢠Experiences CONVERSION and
desires RESTORATION of the
relationship with Christ when sin
has occurred.
13. Essential Catechesis â An Intentional disciple of Christ
⢠Formation begins with hearing the
Good News.
⢠Evangelization occurs prior to
catechesis.
⢠Proclamation of kerygma is
essential
⢠Tell the story of Godâs love and
his invitation to a personal
relationship with each one of us!!
14. Essential Catechesis â An Intentional disciple of Christ
⢠Is NOT a new fad â it is DIVINE
PEDAGOGY.
⢠Christ formed his first disciples by
inviting them to follow him and
revealing Godâs love.
17. Jesus Teaches Forgiveness
1. What relationships in my life need
to be healed, or whom do I need to
forgive as God has forgiven me?
Resolve to ask the Holy Spirit to
help you reconcile with these
individuals.
2. How can I better offer the love of
Christ to my family, friends, and
neighbors? Can I accept God's
love for my past actions and
forgive myself?
18. Prayer
Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
ALL: Amen.
Leader: Prepare our hearts and minds, O Lord, to
accept your Word. Send your Holy Spirit
among us so that we may be a strong
people faithful to your Word. Open our
hearts so that we can be your eyes, your
hands, your feet, and your mouth to a
world in need of your love and mercy.
We ask this in the name of our Lord,
Jesus Christ.
ALL: Amen.
19. Prayer
Leader: O Lord, open our hearts.
ALL: We shall proclaim your praise.
Leader: Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
ALL: As it was in the beginning is now and
will be forever. Amen!

Thank you for coming together today as a community of catechists. God has bless our parish through calling you to witness to your faith in Jesus Christ and to help others deepen their knowledge, love, and life in him through the Church. My purpose in providing this session is to support you in your service on behalf of the Church by attending to your being, knowing, and artistry for educating in the faith.
To Begin with, I would like to begin with an Get to Know you activity. Go to next slide.
On your tables there is an envelope. Please open it and give each person a card.
I would like you to follow the directions on the card.
You will find the hidden parable in the QR code.
And then find the five or six others with the same parable.
Introduce yourself, tell them the grade you will be teaching this year.
Then discuss the parable.
After you have discussed the parable you will have one person from the group go to the padlete wall and post the people in the group and answer the questions that are on the wall.
When everyone is done we will regather as a large group we can have a discussion.
As you have guessed, this years theme is âTeaching Godâs Gift of Forgiveness.â So all year long we will look at forgiveness, us asking God for forgiveness as well as us forgiving others.
Kerygma means - The proclamation of religious truths, especially as taught in the Gospels.
Divine Pedagogy - The Divine Pedagogy is the way that God teaches us. The Divine Pedagogy is demonstrated in the way that God, who loves us perfectly and completely, sent His Son Jesus to reveals Himself and His Plan for our salvation and sanctification. In other words, we can examine how Jesus catechizes and learn how we are to be catechists. Jesus is not only the aim of catechesis, He is also the role model for catechists.
Let us always remember that Jesus is the perfect role model for us.
So, let us now pray. Turn slide.

Reflection
Leader: Lord Jesus, by the light of the Holy Spirit you have taught the hearts of your faithful. We thank you for the gift of your loving embrace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In the same spirit, help us to grow in what is truly right and to always to rejoice in your consolation. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
We will break for lunch now. So let us know say grace.
People could not read, the would tell stories. These stories were passed down.
Or they would draw out the stories.
Then they began to write. The stories were written and that became the method of being passed down.
How much has the world changed? Just look at these photos of the vatican. The one on top only a few had technical devices in their hands, now jump ahead to last year â almost everyone has some form of technical device in their hands.
How long ago did you get your first technical device?
