2. INTRODUCTION
PITOT TUBE
It was invented by Henri Pitot a French engineer in 18 century and was modernized by
Henry Darcy a French scientist in early 19 century.
A pitot tube which is also called pitot probe is a flow measuring device used to measure
fluid (liquid,gas) flow velocity.
The fluid flow rate in a duct canbe estimated from:
Volume flow rate (cubic feet per minute)= duct area (square feet)× flow velocity (feet per
minute)
7. WORKING
Pitot tube
Fluid enter into pitot tube
Velocity of fluid reduce
Due to stagnation pressure ,
pressure energy increase
Head of pitot tube fill with fuild
8. CENTRIFUGAL PUMP
A centrifugal pump is a hydraulic machine which converts mechanical energy into
hydraulic energy. Example agriculture, petroleum and petrochemical pumping
Explanation
Centrifugal force Rotational energy
Introduction
10. 2. Centrifugal pump
• The pump works on the principle
of the force vortex flow.
• Liquid enters at the impeller
• Velocity energy of liquid is
converted to pressure energy
11. Main parts of
centrifugal pump
are
• shaft
•Impeller
•Casing
•Delivery valve
•Suction pipe with a
foot valve and strainer
