White Ford Bronco, DC's Favorite 90's Cover
Band, is Performing at Alumni Weekend!
That's right, it's confirmed that DC's most successful and beloved
all90s party band, White Ford Bronco, will be our concert
entertainment at the Alumni Weekend Kickoff Party on Friday,
October 28.
Alumni Weekend 2016 is October 27 October 30 and events are
happening all across GW’s campus. Specifically, GW School of
Public Health programs will be held all day on Friday, October 28.
The day kicks off with a breakfast, followed by the 26th annual
Gibbs Oration, and continues with a full day of programs until the
evening’s Alumni Reception and Panel Discussion moderated by
alumna, Roslyn Brock MHA ‘89, Chairman of the National Board
of Directors for the NAACP.

GWSPH Lab Featured on CBS Sunday
Morning
The lab at 950 New Hampshire Avenue was recently featured on
the CBS Sunday Morning segment "Senior athletes: Going the
distance." For the show, EXNS Chair and Professor Loretta
DiPietro, and Lab Director and EXNS Assistant Professor
Geoffrey Hudson tested 91yearold athlete Dixon Hemphill using
the lab's DEXA and VO2 Max test.

The Lautenberg Chemical Safety Act: How We
Got Here & What's Next?
In June 2016, the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the
21st Century Act was signed into law. It's an overhaul of the
Toxic Substances Control Act. The EPA is now faced with
implementing this law which represents real chemical safety
reform.
Join us for a discussion on Thursday, September 22 with the
individuals who worked for years to get this bill passed, and
understand what it will take to make sure key health protection
objectives are met. Senator Tom Udall will provide a keynote with
an overview of how the law came to be after a welcome and
introduction from Dean Lynn Goldman.

Programs
GW Public Health Online offers innovative online master's
programs in a range of healthrelated fields for aspiring leaders in
public health, health administration and health informatics.
Classes for the online programs start in January. Prospective
students can apply until November 18, 2016. Learn more about

Management & Leadership and Master of Health Administration
alumni, faculty, and current students to celebrate this storied

Metropolitan Washington Public Health
Association 2016 Conference
MWPHA, an APHA affiliate, will host its 2016 Annual Conference
on Wednesday, September 8 in Washington, DC.
Dr. Camara Jones, APHA president, will present the keynote
"Achieving Health Equity Tools for a National Campaign against
Racism." The conference will feature interactive discussions with
leading and local experts on how race and racism impact
communities of color and their health outcomes and overall well
being.
