To Whom It May Concern
Concerning Miss Katrine Obel-Grønbæk
I have had the pleasure of teaching Miss Obel-Grønbæk about international relations
at the course Globalisation and World Order in the framework of the Mundus Jour-
nalism course, a joint venture between the Danish School of Journalism at Aarhus
University and several prestigious European universities. Miss Obel-Grønbæk re-
ceived the absolute top grade 12 (= straight A) for her, indeed excellent, performance
during the final exam. All students had a mandatory task of giving a theoretical and
conceptual critical analysis of Kishore Mahbubani’s views on the changing world or-
der in the shape of an individual written essay (4,000 words). Here Miss Obel-
Grønbæk showed her capacity for dealing with complex issues of world politics and
economics in an original, cogently argued and balanced fashion. She has an obvious
talent for writing sophisticated up-eds in English aimed at the lay reader.
For this reason I should like to strongly recommend her for a future career in journal-
ism, notably foreign affairs journalism, and/or further studies within related disci-
plines if she so desires. In reality, Miss Obel-Grønbæk is as much of a political scien-
tist as is typically needed for covering world affairs – or domestic political and eco-
nomic affairs, I guess – and on top of that she has her journalistic professionalism
along with other skills and qualifications as displayed in her enclosed CV. She has fol-
lowed other courses at Mundus Journalism, e.g. Reporting Global Change where she
also received the absolute top grade 12 (straight A) and another top grade (A) in the
course on Culture and the Roles of Media.
Yours Truly
