Biography:
Bringing more than 15 years of legal expertise, Kathy joined
Sandberg Phoenix in 2013 and serves clients throughout
Southern Illinois as well as St. Louis. The focus of her practice
includes business, transactional, construction, real estate and estate planning needs.

Kathy’s common sense approach and excellent client service have resulted in her success and respect
in the community. She has successfully argued before the Supreme Court of Illinois and won many
cases before federal and state courts throughout Illinois and Missouri. She finds great reward in
working closely with clients to arrive at satisfactory solutions. Kathy is experienced in complicated
transactions as well as simple, but important, matters such as helping families prepare Wills and Trusts.
Kathy and her husband, Scott, live in Alton, Illinois with their daughters, Abigail and Annabelle. When
she’s not providing superior client service, Kathy volunteers in her community and is a trustee in her
church, the First Christian Church of Wood River. She loves the outdoors and enjoys camping, hunting,
and riding motorcycles.
Background:
Kathy obtained a bachelor’s of science degree from Southern Illinois University School of Business with
a Specialization in Management Information Systems. She earned her Master of Science Degree from
Washington University School of Engineering while working at Boeing Corporation as a computer
programmer. Kathy pursued her passion for helping others while attended Saint Louis University School
of Law, graduating with her Juris Doctorate in 1996. While in law school, she volunteered at Land of
Lincoln Legal Services in Alton, Illinois and now serves as a mediator with the Madison County
Foreclosure Mediation Program helping homeowners avoid foreclosure. She is admitted to practice in
Missouri and Illinois.
Kathy was elected to the Madison County Board and appointed to the Judiciary, Planning and
Development, and Real Estate Tax Committees. She is a former Fosterburg Fire Protection District Board
Member. She is a Director of the River Bend Growth Association and Vice President of the Woodland Hills
Homeowners Association. She was honored by the YWCA of Alton as a Woman of Distinction.
