OBJECTIVE:
Students will be able to speak and write negative sentences in the passé composé with 80 percent
accuracy. Students will also be able to accurately use the expressions ne... pas encore and ne...
jamais.
DIFFERENTIATION:
For those who are heritage speakers, I will have the read Le Tour du Monde en 80 Jours.
Accompanying this reading, I will have a worksheet that requires students to write negative
passé composé sentences.
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
• Projector
• Whiteboard; whiteboard markers
• GoogleDoc
• Worksheet; and extra copies
• 2 copies of Le Tour du Monde en 80 Jours and 2 worksheets for the native speakers
PLAN:
Introduction: Settle down/Prayer 4 minutes
Activity 1: Review the rule to make negative passé
composé sentences and vocabulary definition
Each correct answer allows a student to throw
the basketball
• Ne ... pas; ne ... pas encore; ne ... jamais
around the helping verb
• ne ... pas encore : not yet ≠
• déjà : already
• ne ... jamais : never
• rendre visite (rendu visite) : to visit a friend
• perdre (perdu) : to lose
• Avec qui; qui: with who/whom
• Qu’est-ce que : what
• Quand : when
• Où : where
• Quel : which

2. Activity 2 Review worksheet answers to homework:
sentences 1 - 20
• Sentences answers will already be on the
board
• Students will recite and copy the sentences
• After they are finished I will stamp all the
papers

• Students work in groups of two or
individually to complete the exercise
• When students have completed the exercise
they will raise their hand I will check for
correctness
• When correct, students will memorise the
dialogue and present by memory with a
