1. Announcing Equites
Gingi Medina, Head of Design and CEO of the exclusive fashion line Equites, is no rookie
to the fashion industry. Her life as a designer, merchandiser, buyer, stylist, importer and
exporter has prepared her for this most perfect of all roles. She has moved from LA and
London to the places that inspire her now, Australia and Bali. Gingi had an insider’s
view of the industry, but for her, something was missing. It was when Gingi’s strong,
independent, sexy and stylish friend showed up for dinner in LA in her jods and boots
that Gingi found her calling. Designing clothes that will take the “Equites Woman” from
the ring to the restaurant.
Thus, Equites was created as the forerunner of change for the fashion world.
Understanding the hustle and bustle of the lives of female riders, Gingi has created the
most comfortable and chic clothing meant to be worn both on and off the horse. “When
someone goes to buy or actually wears an Equites piece, we want them to feel its innate
quality and fit over any other item they purchase. We know they will feel the difference in
its composition and ability to move with the body”.
Gingi has made a personal promise to customers that she will use only natural materials.
The company knows the sheep who provide the merino wool and the farmers who tend to
them. She believes it is high time we begin to use nature the way it should be used—
humanely and without waste.
Gingi and the rest of Team Equites are currently preparing for the brand’s launch. Keep
an eye out for this incredibly unique, resourceful, and promising line.

2. Possessing an exquisite sense of style, and an unwavering commitment to delivering
exceptionally versatile and beautifully made clothing and accessories, Gingi Medina
excels at her craft. Gingi entered the fashion world at the tender age of 19, when, at
the suggestion of a friend, she became a petite fit model. It was in this role that she
began to learn about the construction of garments. She then pursued an
apprenticeship alongside Jebroun Jouney, where she learned the qualities of leather,
and also paid close attention to the well-worked craftsmanship of customized jewelry
and clothing adornments. Jebroun Jouney’s global client base was diverse and
included Asian and American Rock and Roll celebrities. She the reentered the front
lines of the fashion world while working for Poppie Couture, an accessories and
handbag line frequently featured on the red carpet and on various TV shows and
magazines.
For more than a decade Gingi traveled the world, collected ideas, and learned the
business end-to-end. Equites is not her first conceptualization for a fashion line, but the
first she’s actually ever wanted to launch. Gingi sees her vast experience as practice
for what she is currently developing at Equites. It was when her mother became ill that
Gingi dropped out of the mainstream fashion world. What began as a kernel of
discontent, bloomed into an opportunity. A life centered on yoga, homeopathy, and
other ways of healing the body led her to look at her work in fashion in a brand new
way. She promised to create a line that was beautiful, functional, and that connects
the wearer to nature in a meaningful way.
The final piece to the puzzle that wove these two backgrounds together was a
chance meeting with her equestrian muse. “She was passionate about animals and I
love that horses have such a strong spirit. Everything about this woman was everything
I needed to portray: strong, sexy, and in need of pieces that fit her lifestyle. I love
being able to add in details that people have always wanted but never knew to ask
for; that’s our thing”. After 12 years working in the industry Gingi has found the answer
for the elite rider amongst todays’ functional, archetype woman who is jet setting,
everyday and the Equites Woman whose fashion needs were not optimally served.
Until now.
