1. Statistics:
There are 1 in 50 Americans with the disease that tend to be woman. The disease
occurs seven times more often in women then in the men and some 80% to 90% of
fibromyalgia sufferers are woman.
FMS is the second most common ailment affecting the musculoskeletal system after
osteoarthritis.
Real life examples:
I have a friend Nicole she is a 26 year old, sufferer of fms she has bean sick since she
was 13 and was diagnosed at 18, she started having chronic head aches that never
stop that turned in to body wide pain. She is in severe pain but has learned to carry
on with her daily activities in chronic non-stop pain. Out of the 26 doctors she has
seen non-have yet to help with her pain. The only anything that she has found that
helps is certain medicines to help control the pain along with medication to sleep.
Another real life example is my cousin KJ. She is 27 years old and was
diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1996. She is a different case and is only in severe
pain when she is under a lot of stress. Or hasn’t slept very much, or when its really
cold. She also has not found a doctor to help her with finding a treatment. She tries
to get a lot of sleep to help not be in pain. She had a hard time raising her children
because of the pain.
