Feedback literacy, feedback seeking and lifelong learning: Implications for d...
Karthik M LOR 1
1. LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
I have shared a long association with Karthik in the capacity of tutor, project guide and mentor. A bright student
whose academic progress over the semesters was praiseworthy, Karthik was a devoted pupil who adopted a multi
pronged approach to learning. An active listener and participant in the lecture hall his distinctly individualistic
observations and inputs enlivened the classroom and paved the way for discussion. His exemplary abilities to put
forth his views and opinions with clarity and force worked to his advantage in leadership roles.
Critical thinking was a decided advantage he enjoyed in the analysis of complex requirements. I have observed his
inclination to analyse more than one solution at length assessing their strengths and weaknesses before deciding on
a course of action. He applied principles and concepts learned to specific problems in a convincing manner. I have
taught him subjects like Finite element analysis and Modeling (FEA&M) and Dynamics of Machines. It was
heartening to watch him add substantially to his understanding of properties, environment and design life through
peer reviewed journals and publications. He was keen to engage in technical debates outside the classroom and I
encouraged the young mind to travel down unexplored paths.
Karthik’s final semester project work which was on Design, Analysis and Fabrication of Drill jig for an airbus
component which he executed at HAL, one of India’s leading aerospace companies and presented it in our college.
I was very much impressed by his presentation and dedication in this regard. Karthik was a model of keen
enthusiasm and serious approaches in his study. As his guide I could observe him relating ancient practices to
contemporary ones drawing inspiration from parallel concepts and earmarking singularly unique features of
construction for further research.
Having seen him excel in roles that entailed negotiation, persuasion and authoritative stands, efficiently allocating
responsibility and garnering support, I can easily envision him in positions of command in the future. He is more
than capable of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, utilising his own skill sets to the best
advantage. I am in complete agreement with his plans for higher learning and strongly recommend his
candidature. An international degree will be the perfect complement to an enterprising disposition, ready and
eager to conquer the greatest challenges.
