This document summarizes the governance of the Pandas project. It discusses that Pandas is an open source Python software for data analysis developed by contributors. Governance is based on openness, transparency, and active contribution. Previously, governance was led by a Benevolent Dictator For Life (BDFL) and Core Team. The Core Team now ensures the project vision through discussion with the BDFL and community input. Compared to NumPy, Pandas has a BDFL who makes final decisions and can delegate to the Core Team, while NumPy decisions require agreement from all interested contributors.
