H.R. 1331 is a bill that would allow veterans to access private healthcare services without prior authorization from the VA to reduce long wait times. It aims to address the high rate of veteran suicides by expediting access to mental health treatment. The bill has bipartisan support in Congress and would provide temporary solutions to help alleviate the heavy caseloads facing the overburdened VA system, while broader reforms are underway.

H.R. 1331 can make a difference
With veterans committing
suicide at a rate of 22 a day,
action is being taken to reduce
wait times within the VA. In
the meantime, H.R. 1331
allows our service members to
access services through the
private sector without prior
authorization.

2. 90 days was too long to wait…
Cpl Clay Hunt. Gone but
not forgotten…
It was overwhelming support that
allowed the Clay Hunt SAV Act
(H.R. 203) to pass with a unanimous
bipartisan vote.
It is still just as relevant today with
a ten percent rise in mental health
cases entering the San Diego VA
within the last year.
H.R. 1331 allows our service
members quicker access to
benefits
The mental health issues facing our
military diagnosed with PTSD are
matters of an urgent nature. They
cannot wait for treatment.
They were willing to die
for our freedom. They
deserve to be treated with
respect and dignity. We
cannot let history repeat
itself.
The problem with Tricare
Although this option does allow
access to private physicians, many
are not willing to accept it due to
low reimbursement.
Veterans Choice
Over 130,000 service members have
been referred through this program,
giving them the option to private
care. Only 5,000 have been seen.

service members know they matter.
Thank You
The demand for services currently
outweighs the supply of resources
that our Veterans Administration is
able to provide.
Reform is underway within the VA,
which brings hope for the future.
In the meantime, we must have
solutions in place for those in need
of healthcare and mental health
services.
H.R. 1331 can alleviate a great deal
of the case loads that the VA is
currently inundated with.
Together we can make a
difference…
