Program Objectives
1. To produce knowledge who will become effective synthesizer of organized knowledge to allow critical and analytical thinking;
2. To provide avenues for education students to upgrade their classroom learning by encouraging attendance symposia, seminars, for a, lecture series to better equip them
as future educators
3. Demonstrate understanding and mastery of the fundamental knowledge and skills required for effective professional practice in the field of specialization.
SPECIFIC COURSE INFORMATION
Course Description: This course equips the pre-service English teachers with an understanding between and among the four types of grammar, functional, descriptive,
prescriptive, and pedagogic. Aside from the emphasis on how teaching and assessment vary considering the four types of course also provides an avenue to carry out anaylsis
on the role of grammar in achieving communicative competence. Specifically, it allows them to demonstrate linguistic proficiency as an importance factor in promoting their
students’ literary skills. As a manifestation of this competency, they are required to apply teaching strategies that are responsive to their students’ linguistic backgrounds
considering the principles of formative and summative assessments.

Course Outcome
At the end of this course, students shall be able to:
1. Design a compendium of assessment tasks-formative and summative, which are consistent with the selected competencies
2. Craft a learning plan that promotes literacy among their students by incorporating their principled understanding of assessment of grammar
3. Conduct a teaching demonstration using innovative teaching approaches and task that are responsive to the students’ linguistic needs
