Kacie chose to work on a project in Kenya through SERV International, which focuses on serving God by serving others. She has a heart for children and wanted career experience. Her project involved researching conditions in Kibera slum, the second largest slum in Kenya, where poverty and diseases like HIV/AIDS and malaria are prevalent. She organized meetings, fundraisers, and support to facilitate the project led by Steve Kasha, co-founder of SERV International and director of her project in Kenya. Some challenges were managing her time between school, church and the project, and not receiving much funding response to support letters. She learned time management and leadership skills and hopes to become a kindergarten teacher.
