formidable, overwhelming
& the challenge that
will change
the world?
6. “The only thing they have to
look forward to is hope. And
you have to give them
hope. Hope for a better world,
hope for a better tomorrow, hope
for a better place to come to if
the pressures at home are too
great. Hope that all will be all
right. Without hope...the us'es
will give up.”

7. The Stakes
Our country stands at an historic crossroads.
➔ At a time of unprecedented
advances in clean energy and
groundbreaking regulatory efforts to
curb carbon pollution, we are poised
to seize the opportunity to prevent
catastrophic climate change.
➔ However, the window of
opportunity may be closing rapidly.
8. Victories in the Carbon Fight!

● Yellow markers:

"Like many of you, I am a parent, and I am
deeply concerned about the world we are
leaving for our children. One lesson my wife
and I try to teach our kids is the need to set
goals and remain focused as you strive to
achieve them. Our country has a clear, science-
based goal to limit climate pollution. We must
keep this in mind and recognize that achieving
that goal, is incompatible with permitting this
pipeline." —
Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune.
14. The Vision
Our Theory of Change: Forge a powerful
movement from the bottom up that
secures a top-down national energy policy
to create a safe climate future by leaving
dirty fuels in the ground.
➔ A broad and powerful grassroots
movement is rising, from the bottom
up, to stop polluting fossil fuel projects
and create a clean energy future.
➔ Emboldened by movements like the
successful fight against the Keystone
XL tar sands pipeline activists,
landowners, and community leaders
around the country are forging
networks to reject the polluting status
quo.
15. Living the Vision
● Celebrate all victories no matter
the size
● Fight to change the world by
linking sustainable living with
racial and economic justice
● Build diverse, equitable and
inclusive Community
16. You
Never doubt that a small group of
thoughtful, committed citizens can change
the world; indeed, it's the only thing that
ever has.

17. “Do not forget that Earth is
really good at killing you…
Ninety-seven percent of all
the species on Earth that
ever existed are now
extinct… It’s our ingenuity,
in spite of that fact, that
prevents it.” Neil Degrasse Tyson

the world
