Each day over 10 Canadians are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and by 2031 that number is expected to double. People with Parkinson's have the highest prescription drug use rates compared to other neurological conditions. Over 60% of Parkinson's patients experience cognitive issues like memory loss, anxiety, and depression. Caregiver stress is also doubled for neurological conditions and is worse if cognitive impairment is present. Parkinson's patients may lose up to 15 healthy years of life and are also among those with the highest out-of-pocket healthcare costs in Canada.
