4. DR. JOSE P. RIZAL
Jose Rizal was the Philippines' national hero and the author of
two novels: "El Filibusterismo" and "Noli me Tangere“
José Rizal, or José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda,
was a patriot, physician, and man of letters who was an
inspiration to the Philippine nationalist movement. He was
born on June 19, 1861, in Calamba, Philippines, and died on
December 30, 1896, in Manila.
He was the most powerful person in his time, and he is also
known as "The hero who fought with his pen. "His deeds
provided the impetus for the revolution that eventually led to
the Filipino people's freedom.
5. ANDRES BONIFACIO
Andres Bonifacio, the Katipunan revolutionary movement's
supremo or supreme leader.
Andres Bonifacio, who was born on November 30, 1863, and
passed away on May 10, 1897, in Mt. Buntis Philippines,
Filipino patriot, founder of the nationalist Katipunan society
and its leader, who led the revolt against the Spanish in
August 1896.
He established the Katipunan in Manila in 1892, imitating the
Masonic order's structure and rituals. By 1896, the Katipunan
was estimated to have 100,000 members and branches
throughout Manila, central Luzon, and the islands of Panay,
Mindoro, and Mindanao. The majority of its members were
peasants and workers; Reform over revolution was supported
by the urban middle class.
6. EMILIO AGUINALDO
Emilio Aguinaldo was a politician, military commander, and
evolutionarist. He was the Philippines' first and youngest
president.
Emilio Aguinaldo was a Filipino leader and politician who
fought for the Philippines' independence against both Spain
and the United States. He was born March 22/23, 1869, near
Cavite, Luzon, and died February 6, 1964, in Quezon City. He
became mayor of Cavite Viejo (present-day Kawit) in August
1896;adjacent to the city of Cavite) and was the local head of
the Katipunan, a revolutionary group that fought the Spanish
ferociously and won. He and the Spanish governor general
made a deal known as the Pact of Biac-na-Bató in December
1897.
7. LAPU-LAPU
The first recorded hero in Philippine history was Lapu-
lapu.The first person to fight the Spaniards led by
Ferdinand Magellan was Lapu-lapu.
Lapu-Lapu is a city in the Philippines' northwestern
Mactan Island. It is opposite Cebu City in a narrow
channel of the Bohol Strait. The city, which used to be
called Opon, got its new name to honor Chief Lapulapu,
who killed Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan on
April 27, 1521.The chief is regarded as a hero of the
nation.
8. MARCELO H. DEL PILAR
Marcelo H. Del Pilar, who succeeded Lopez-Jaena as editor
of La Solidaridad and went by the pen name Plaridel.
He was one of the Reform Movement's leaders.
Magazines, poetry, and pamphleteering flourished under
Marcelo del Pilar, one of the Propaganda Movement's
three leading figures.
9. ANTONIO LUNA
One of the most ferocious Filipino
generals was Antonio Luna. Luna
created the "Luna Sharpshooters,"
"Black Guard," and the "Luna
Defense Line," a three-tier defense.
10. JUAN LUNA
Juan Luna was a political activist,
painter, and sculptor from the
Philippines. He is Antonio's older
brother and is responsible for the
well-known Spoliarium.
11. APOLINARIO MABINI
Apolinario Mabini, also known as the
Utak ng Himagsikan (Brains of
Revolution), was the first Prime
Minister of the Philippines.
12. MELCHORA AQUINO
Melchora Aquino, also known as
"Tandang Sora," provided ill and
injured revolutionaries with shelter
and medical care in her store. She is
referred to as the "Mother of
Balintawak" and the "Grand Woman
of the Revolution."
13. SULTAN MUHAMMAD
KUDARAT
The seventh King of Maguindanao.
The influence of Roman Catholicism on
the Mindanao island was hindered by
Kudarat. Because he was able to stop
the Spaniards from spreading their
influence throughout Mindanao, he is
regarded as the most powerful sultan in
the Philippines.
