2.1.4 Cache and Memory
2.1.4.1 Memory
The SC5020 comes with a total 128GB of memory, 64GB per controller. Memory for
the SC5020 cannot be upgraded to higher memory options.
2.1.5 Connectivity
Front-end Connectivity Front-end connections provide IO paths from servers to
storage controllers (via a networking switch) and replication paths from one Storage
Center to another.
2.1.5.1 Mezzanine Card (Optional)
Each SC5020 controller has 1 x 4-port 10Gb ethernet mezzanine card (2 per
chassis). The mezz card is available as either SFP+ card or BASE-T, this is selected
at time of ordering. All 4 ports on the card will be either SFP+ or RJ45 – there is no
mixing of ports on the mezzanine card. The on-board mezz card does not support
DCB or vlan tagging. In order to use DCB/vlan tagging iSCSI, a 10Gb iSCSI IO card
must be purchased and installed in the IO expansion slot.
2.1.5.2 PCIe IO Expansion Cards (Optional)
Each SC5020 controller contains a single PCIe Gen 3 slot. This slot is a full height,
half length. Two-port or 4-port IO cards can be ordered for use in this slot. IO cards

2.1.7.2 SC5020 Energy Star Efficiency Ratings
The SC5020 power supplies have achieved the Energy Star Gold efficiency rating.
The higher the efficiency rating, the less power a controller will use because less of
the power is wasted as heat. A higher efficiency power supply will cut down on the
amount of power needed and ultimately cut down on the cost to power the controller

Each base software bundle covers the first 48 drives with expansion packs available
in 24-drive increments.
The SC5020 will support the Storage Center array-based and server-based software
features that are supported with Storage Center OS 7.1.10 and DSM 2016 R3 as its
Management Tool. Additionally, integrations with Oracle, Microsoft, VMware, IBM-
AIX and other major software partners are also supported. For more information on
SCOS 7.1.10, please reference the SCOS 7.x Product Source Guide on SalesEdge
here.
2.2.3 SC5020 Licensing
The SC5020 will follow the SC licensing model that was implemented on the
SC9000/SC7020. The SC5020 has a Core Base Software License and an additional
Storage Center Drive license that applies to the total number of drives in the array.
This new model allows customers to only purchase the drive licenses they need
without complex calculations of existing expansion packs and drive counts.
Additionally, we have value-priced software feature bundles that are a onetime
purchase license and can be used for any number of drives in the SC5020 array.
Individual Storage Center Features are still available to be purchase a-la-carte for
customers who do not want to purchase in a software bundle.
Unlike the SC9000 and SC7020, the SC5020 does not have a drive cost adder thus
no enterprise cap.
