About Us
Gateway Academy serves students with social and academic challenges
through innovative approaches to learning, physical fitness, and social
awareness. Our graduates encounter a changing world with self-
advocacy, opening a path to personal significance in college, career,
and community.
About the Symposium
As part of our commitment to our students and to our community,
Gateway Academy hosts an annual transition event. Our 2017 event
will be an all-day Transition Symposium. This educational event is for
educators, professionals, parents and students interested in facilitating
the mindset and skills necessary for a successful transition to young
adulthood.
Who Should Attend
Students with AD/HD, autism and learning differences are often
considered "too high functioning" for state funded resources, yet they
still require support in order to become productive adults. Gateway
Academy’s Transition Symposium will feature speakers with expertise
in areas impacting transition to adulthood. Those who attend the
Symposium will learn actionable steps to support growth of pivotal
skills and competencies inherent in this growing population. This
symposium is relevant to those for whom college, adult independent
living and/or vocational careers are attainable with the proper
structure and support.
