3. LOCATION
Inle Lake:
• Freshwater lake located in the Shan Hills against mountainous background.
• Notable for its relatively cool climate (set at 800 metres above sea level).
• Renowned its waterborne life, with its floating villages & gardens, stilted wooden homes, colourful markets,
distinctive pagodas & stupas, and the unique ‘leg rowing’ technique of its fishermen.

• The hotel is located in Maing Thauk Village, half of which
is set on dry land while the other half sits on stilts over
the water.
• The nearest airport is Heho, which is served by flights
from Yangon, Nyaung-u, Mandalay, Tachilek and Keng
Tung.
• From Heho, you will drive through quaint villages and
scenic hills before reaching Nyaung Shwe. From Nyaung
Shwe, you may continue by land or by boat to the hotel.
Journey time from Heho Airport to the hotel:
• By road (airport to hotel): 90 mins
• By road & boat (airport to Nyaung Shwe → Nyaung Shwe
to hotel): 1 hour 45 mins

• The resort inspires contemplation through its off-the-beaten-path location and architectural flourishes that invoke
monastic traditions.
• Though the design is minimalist, the hotel has integrated all the modern comforts, from plush beds and air
conditioning to cable televisions and mini-bars in every room.

• The 47 Cloister Classic rooms each deliver 40 square metres of accommodation on the ground, first and second
floors in the Cluster.

THE REFECTORY
• The menu at the Refectory celebrates must-eat standards of the Shan culinary arts, from noodles and soups to fresh
garden salads. Indeed, Inle is renowned throughout Myanmar for the quality of its organic fruits and vegetables.
• The Refectory deepens its exploration of regional fare with mohinga, samosa and a delectable palate of curries from
wider Myanmar.
• The restaurant rounds out its meal-time offerings with a full complement of familiar Western dishes.
• With a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, the Refectory seats 70 at a breakfast buffet, for lunch and at dinner.

THE CLOISTER BAR
• Part-bar, part-lounge and altogether the place to swill a late-day cocktail, the Cloister Bar serves traditional favourites
and a wide selection of Myanmar-brewed beers.
• For wine aficionados, the bar uncorks two premium vintages from Myanmar, each produced under separate German
and French management.
• A short list of international wines cool in the cellars.
14. THE SANCTUARY SPA
• Offering six treatment rooms (all with air conditioning and fans) on two floors, with most of the rooms featuring
individual showers, and decorated in harmonious colours by France’s Brigitte Du Mont Chassart, who also designed
the acclaimed La Residence Hotel & Spa in Hue, Vietnam.
• The treatment rooms comprise three single rooms, one couple, a Thai massage room (with small private terrace) and
a foot massage area.
• The Spa is small and cosy, and the emphasis is on personal service and creating a unique, individual spa experience,
rather than belonging to an international spa brand.

• The Chapter House dedicates workspace and Internet connections for those who can’t quite detach, who need a live
connection elsewhere, or who need time to bear down on work.
