During Prohibition, the Milk Room
was a speakeasy joint.
CAA members were served
booze in mugs
to give the illusion they
were drinking coffee.
32. - So named for the Cherry Wood lined walls.
-Men’s only bar and restaurant.
-Women were invited for special events.
-The dome lights and bar were installed in the
mid 1950s.
42. The building was on the brink of
being demolished.
2011 it was included on the Chicago
& Illinois Landmarks annual
"endangered buildings" list.

Purchased by Pritzker Family
and AJ Capital for $13 million.
Construction began on the building's
second life as a hotel with new
architecture firm
Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture.
