3. Golf Is More than A Sport, It’s my Lifestyle!
Eleven years ago I had my first golf clubs in
my hands and I am so thankful my dad kept
bringing me to the golf course even though I did
not like it at first. However, by really learning what
golf was about and to discover the mental, physical,
social, and technical parts of it made me love the
sport! Even at a young age, I was really competitive
and doing competitions was fueling my desire to
become a greater golfer.
In all honesty, today, it is the fire of
competitions that makes me want to surpass myself
everyday. I love competing and being under
pressure. Another point that really thrill me and I really want to own that trademark in the LPGA
is the fact that I am a left-handed player! I always had to learn differently or being separated
because I am a lefty. I am so grateful for my hockey skills that made me a lefty because the
adjustments I had to do and feeling different than other golfer have always make me want to push
and work even harder.
It amazes me to know that every shots and conditions are different. The complexity of golf
on all its areas – technical, strategic, mental, emotional and physical – is asking me to become a
better golfer every day and more knowledgeable. Either at school or during practices, I am always
thirsty of more knowledge and to understand golf in all its ways. It is probably for that desire of
learning that I have succeeded in completing two B.As in political sciences and criminal justice and
a minor in sociology with almost 8 semesters in a row with a GPA of 4.0. I have always been a hard
worker with a lot of determination and perseverance, and I do not regret anything of my decisions
at school. What I have learned in class at Kent State University, I can easily apply those skills on
the golf course and be proud of my accomplishments. Not only did I receive honors such as
WGCA Academic All American and Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District my whole
college carreer, but I also had 3 collegiate wins in a row during my junior year.
Not only I have the chance to be a Golden Flashes during the school year but now I have
the chance to represent my country, Canada, on a national and international level. Team Canada
created opportunities for me, and more to come in golf, that I would never have gotten if not for
the team. I feel extremely lucky to now receive this support from the coaches as well as the training
camps. Being surrounded by a team of professional in their domain will certainly help me to reach
new goals and to become the golfer I want to be.
Most importantly, all my experiences, whether it be at Kent State University or with Team
Canada, I will always be thankful for the help I received. Like I have mentioned, golf is more than
a sport, it’s my lifestyle! My daily life and all my choices are oriented toward a single goal: playing
on the LPGA.
4. Professional Goals
Since I have started playing golf, I have always made my yearly goals with one big goal in mind:
being a professional on the LPGA. And now that I am about to be done with Kent State
University, it is really exciting for me to know that I am really close to this step. My collegial and
amateur experiences are a path that I will never forget, but truly, I am now really looking forward
to take the next step toward the professional. When people ask me: “what will you do after
college?”, I always answer that I want to play on the LPGA. This new journey is now waiting for
and I will now be able to be 100% focus on my performance and process goals. My plan for the
next months is the finish my senior year at Kent State university and then to remain amateur for
the summer with Team Canada until the World Amateur in Mexico in September. However, I
will be participating in the LPGA Q-school the last week of August. My goal is to advance to 3rd
stage and receive full status onto the LPGA. However, if I do not reach 3rd
stage, I plan to receive
full status on the Symetra tour and play my way onto the LPGA from there.
