3. To whom it may concern,
My name is JoseCarlos Perez, I am 28 years old, and I have a degree in Marketing and
International Business from the University of the Incarnate Word, (San Antonio,
Texas).
I’m the perfect candidate to be a Travel Trek Guide because for the following reasons.
I have an outgoing personality, I am very social person, who enjoys interacting with
people sharing things about myself and getting the opportunity to learn more about
them, I can easily start and carry a conversation. In most of my professional
experience I had have the opportunity of working with people with real face to face
interactions. I feel more comfortabledoing this kind of jobs rather than sitting in front
of the computer with no interaction at all. I believe the best way to learn more about
people is see how they express themselves and the way they talk and behave.
I used to work for the Walt Disney Company and Disney Cruise Lines the number one
entertainment company well known for giving an excellence service. It was an
incredible experience that made me the person I am now, this life changing
experience helped me develop and my people skills such as, hosting and organizing
events in front of hundreds of people, learning how to deal with many different types
of people from all over the world. I learnt how to connect with people, to change a
simple experience into a magical experience, as well as how to make and keep guest
happy. One of the most important things I learnt is to never say no to the customer.
They may not always be correct but they will always be the customer, we should
always live up to their expectation by providing excellent customer service, creating a
unique and special experience that they will never forget.
I will be the perfect Travel Trek Guide, because you will always see me with a smile on
my face, I am a very positive person, who always sees the good in every situation. I
believe that in life is all about your attitude and the way you view things, I always see
the glass half full, rather than half empty. I have a great sense of humor and the
charisma to go it, which makes me an unique individual from all the others.
I want to do something different that constantly challenge me. Becoming a Travel
Trek Guide would give me the opportunity, to pursue my life’s passions such as;
traveling the world interacting with people from all over the globe, while maintaining
a healthy, active and fit life style.
For all the reason above I believe that I will be the perfect candidate for this position.
Sincerely
Jose Carlos Perez Varela
4. The most memorable customer service experience that I ever had, was while I was
working for Disney Cruise Lines, as a cruise staff, I was part of all the entertainment
on board one of my main responsibilities were to be in charge of hosting and
organizing events, working on a cruise ship, you are always depending on the weather
and the difficulties to be on board, and things are changing all the time, not always
what you planned is what you finished doing, but you have to do something.
The cruise staff team was made up with people from all over the world, but I was the
only latino in the group, and the one who speaks Spanish, this competitive advantage
made me have better interaction with Hispanics guest and get closer to them.
I remembered several cruises with guest who did not speak any English at all, so they
came to me to be like their representative and explain everything, this situation made
me feel very helpful and committed with them, I was the Hispanic representative in all
the entertainment events.
I have many experiences regarding customer service but the most memorable was
when the ship were full of latino guest, was almost the 60% of the total cruise, my
team were getting crazy because no one could understand them, this situation was
perfect for me, I was hosting many events per day, running from side to side, and
guest were stopping me all the time to explain what was happening, so one of my
events were supposed to be on the open deck, but that night, a storm hit us in the
middle of nowhere, and was so dangerous to do the event, and was cancel, people
weren’thappy even though they were warned of the weather, in those cases we need
to fill that gap with something to keep the guest happy, so we took all the people to
the atrium and trying to figuring out what we could do to keep the flow of
entertainment, we just had a DJ and a lot of people, most of them were latinos, so I
told the DJ to play some Spanish music, and I started improvising and interacting with
people, as soon as they listening this music all the environment changed, they were
feeling more comfortable because finally they were having something that they could
understand, I danced with them, we were playing the music that they asked for, we
were all having fun, was a big party with no script, no timing, everything was perfect
and the best part was that nothing were schedule, we did something unexpected,
started from draft.
After that night all guest were asking if we will repeat that big party, they were so
fascinated because we started with a really bad situation and we ended up with a
successful event, because of this we included this big fiesta, in the cruises where the
majority of guest were Hispanics, and the designed and perfect host for that was me.
Not forgetting my POB´s when was needed.
