The document discusses an IoT solution called the "90 Minutes Ultra Smart Sportswear" launched by Xiaomi. The smart running shoes contain a chip that counts steps and distinguishes between walking and running to accurately track calories burned. The data is accessible in real-time through a smartphone app via Bluetooth connectivity. The business model would be transactional, with customers purchasing the shoes and app for personal use and ownership of the collected data. Privacy and data protection are important considerations to ensure users approve of what data is collected and that it remains private.
2. Welcome to the future…
90 Minutes Ultra Smart Sportswear!!
3. IoT solution
I´m a sports guy, so in this case I´m going to analyse the
“Smart Running shoes” launched on the market by the asian
technology fabricant Xiaomi. They called their product: “90
Minutes Ultra Smart Sportswear”.
4. IoT solution benefits
Here, we are talking about a product that could help customers to
keep a healthy life style.
The chip in the shoes will count your steps, but an important thing
is it knows if you´re walking or running so the calories count will be
adapted to the activity. No false information!!
Of course, the shoes aren´t going to do all by themselves but the
information you could take from them certainly could be an engine
to you for doing “something” about it.
6. IoT solution technologies
The information collected by the shoes is going to be available
real-time on an App you could access from your phone.
Kwowing this, Bluetooth or even LPWA solutions are good
connectivity options.
7. IoT business model
In my opinion, for this case the “Transactional” would be the
best business model. I mean, you´re going to buy the shoes
and from that moment they will be yours, same with the App
you´re going to install on your pone and just use it.
The revenue of the IoT company would be Upfront and the
Device ownership… The user/customer.
8. Risks and Policies
Well, I can´t clearly see any risk for the customers associated
with wearing the running shoes.
There could be some operational considerations like damage
of the equipment (chip) in case of rain or snow.
Besides the material of the shoes, constant and intense use
would eventually damage them, in that case you probably
would have to buy a new pair.
9. Risks and Policies
Here it´s important Privacy and Data protection, like in most
cases of IoT…
The shoes have to collect just the information the customer
approves, there can´t be secret data of the user for the IoT
company for example.
The information collected by the shoes has to be accessed and
used just by the customer who´s paying for it, it´s a private
data.
