Jorge started at Miami International University of Art & Design in 2005, and
has been a great support from day one.
This position is an extremely demanding job that requires an individual to
multi task on various levels. It requires sound judgment, good follow up,
thoroughness, relationship building abilities and conflict resolution skills, to
name a few. Jorge was able to fulfill these requirements with minimal
training and supervision.
He has the flexibility to multi-task solo, and yet is capable of interacting in a
variety of settings. He has been able to show flexibility in adapting to the
numerous changes in his role as well as the other changes undergone by
the university. Jorge has always been a reliable, hard working professional
and has taken on additional duties when the university's been understaffed.

Jorge since I began my tenure at Miami International University of Art and Design
(MIUAD) five years ago. I have the second largest academic department at MIUAD, and,
thus, many faculty and student needs and assistance with technology.
Whether it is a simple issue of an ID card or a complex computer virus, Jorge is always
there to assist me or those working at the university. His is the first number I dial when I
need help or simply need an answer to a technology-related question. He is prompt to
reply to emails, come to my office to work on my PC, and offer guidance to me when
setting up online accounts for new faculty.
Professionalism and patience are also qualities Jorge possesses. He is dependable. He has
great follow-up skills, and, most importantly, he is always ready to help. He works well
with others, and is prepared to bring possible solutions to problems he encounters on a

Alcala has the expertise and experience that will undoubtedly serve as a positive impact to any

As Technical Support Supervisor at Miami International University of Art & Design, Jorge has
demonstrated his experience and dedication throughout his tenure at the University. As Director of the
Design department I have worked closely with Mr. Alcala in procuring equipment and maintaining all
operations of computers and classroom equipment (LCD projectors, plotters) for the past five years.
During this time his professionalism, knowledge and ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently has
always allowed for the department and classrooms to run without issues. Jorge has always been
attentive to customer serve as a member of the technology department. He is easy to work with and has
excellent communication skills. He does an excellent job in disseminating information for all of us to

approximately 6 years at Miami International University of Art & Design. Over that time, I have found
Jorge to be consistently diligent, knowledgeable, and passionate about every aspect of his work, and
incredibly motivated to excel. He is helpful and thorough, yet appropriately stem when it comes to
oversight and implementation of policy. His ability to communicate advanced technical topics to faculty
and students conveys a deep understanding for his field as well as demonstrates his willingness to help,
