[FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE]
Very seldom is there a legend.
And seldom are there pieces that capture the brevity of a legend’s life.
Son House is one of them, being an icon in the Blues world. Reigning from Rochester, he
has influenced some of the greatest musicians of all time, ranging from the late B.B. King
to John Mayer. And Carvin Eison, an award winning filmmaker is releasing his film on Son
House in the coming weeks, called “Yonder Come the Blues.”
An event has been planned for Tuesday, December 15th at 6 p.m. at the GEVA Theatre on
Woodbury Boulevard. The night will include a memorial for the late Son House, horderves,
drinks, and a Q and A with the award winning director, Carvin Eison.
“I am very pleased to bring Yonder Come the Blues to GEVA. My work fits my home, and
GEVA always feels like home,” Eison details.
Son House was born a poor farm hand, and slowly made his way north from Mississippi to
Rochester to work on the railroad. Despite hardship, a battle with alcoholism, and a break
from music lasting over a decade, Son House returned with his music making headlines
across the country.
