Re: Recommendation for Jordan Buyn
I welcome the opportunity to provide a recommendation letter for Jordan Buyn. I had the
pleasure of knowing Jordan through my role as his Lecturer and Tutor for the unit ‘Workplace
Learning and Performance Management’ at Monash University for Semester 1, 2014. As I was
solely responsible for the delivery and assessment of students in the course, I am in an ideal
position to comment on Jordan’s achievements as a student.
It is very rare for an academic staff member to write a recommendation for an undergraduate
student. However Jordan has made such a strong and positive impression that it would be
remiss of me not to. He has been an exceptional student throughout the whole semester. Jordan
was one of the most frequent contributors in class, showing advanced levels of engagement,
volunteering ideas, offering original critical insight and thoughtful reflections. His intellectual
capacity and knowledge of management, while initially strong, grew exponentially throughout
the duration of the course.
Jordan’s outstanding work ethic and a mature professionalism in his conduct makes him stand
out from his peers. I have met very few students in my 12-year academic career who could
match Jordan in his desire to want to improve and achieve all that he is capable of. If I were to
set a task I could trust implicitly that he would throw himself into the task and do everything in
his power to achieve the best possible result. Jordan accepts constructive criticism and advice
extremely well and indeed, solicits feedback on his performance at all times so he can
continually improve. I find this to be an increasingly rare trait amongst students and this is but
one of the reasons why I think he will go on to succeed.
What also sets Jordan apart is that he is so easy to get along with, possessing an engaging and
genial personality. I have no doubt that he would be an excellent colleague and extremely
valued team member in any organisation. He ticks a lot of boxes: smart, dedicated,
achievement-oriented, always seeks to improve, takes advice, and exceptionally collegial. As
such, I have no hesitation recommending Jordan for any future position, both academic and
professional.
Kind Regards,
