Porto best european destination

- As you probably know Porto has been elected the best european destination. Never has the choice of the winning city been so unanimous among travellers from all other the world. It is with the votes of worldwide travellers from 174 countries that Porto wins this European title again for the third time (2012, 2014, 2017). Travellers from the USA, the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, South-Africa, South Korea, Ireland and Canada, among others,... voted Porto in the first place in this competition. How have we such a small city outclassed cities like Paris, Rome or Madrid?
- As you probably know Porto has been elected the best european destination. Never has the choice of the winning city been so unanimous among travellers from all other the world. It is with the votes of worldwide travellers from 174 countries that Porto wins this European title again for the third time (2012, 2014, 2017). Travellers from the USA, the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, South-Africa, South Korea, Ireland and Canada, among others,... voted Porto in the first place in this competition. How have we such a small city outclassed cities like Paris, Rome or Madrid?
- When asking traveller what reasons did they have in mind when voting for Porto, most of them mesnion History architecture culure and of course gastronomy.
- Porto is mostly known definetly due to port wine. This unique type of wine that is produced in the Douro river banks is adored worldwide. When you visit Porto you are able to visit the port wine caves or do a cruise in the douro river enabling you to see beautiful landscapes of vineyards
- Porto hass one of oldest city centres in europe. It was in Porto that occured importante events in Portugal’s history such as the civil war between the liberals and the abloutists. Here tourists can visit places like Infante D.Henrique’s house and the most historical ones even take a small trip to Guimarães in order to take a look at D.Afonso Henriques’s Castle.
- Porto has architctural treasures for all taste. The romanesque apreciatars have the Cathedral or Cedofeita’s church The fans of neoclassical architecture can either visit the outstanding arab room in Stocks Palace or break a leg and take an ambulance to the beutiful St. Antonoio’s hostpital. Even the ones with a more modern taste may visit places like casa da musica and Serralves mansion
- Belive it or not Porto is indeed a tremendously importante cultural centre in europe with 45 million euros worth collection of paintings in Serralves a huge and beutiful auditorium like Casa da musica and hosting porutugal most forgein attractinc music festival, Nos Primavera Sound. A lot of tourists tend to visit our city to visit cultural places
- Finnally, another Porto’s great attraction is food. When asking travellers the reason why they love Porto so much 98% of them mensions gastronomy . Travellers who vistit porto must go and have a francesinha at a good restaurant downtown get some sardines in Matosinhos and eat some Porto’s way Guts (tripas)
- Although i only talked about the most popular attractions the city has a lot more of them. As a tourist you can always go the beach go and see the city’s football derby between Fc Porto and Boavista or even take part in Porto’s marathon whivh would be a healthy way to visit Porto’s Riverside.
