educational events that empower institutional investors
with insights to invest in emerging markets responsibly,
supporting good governance and promoting sustainable
development. Two of the Alliance’s more recent educational
events were on October 13 and September 11, 2020.

4. On October 13, 2020, the Emerging Markets Investors
Alliance had an Initiative Call where Jean-Marc Routier
presented BlackRock’s approach to investing sustainably in
emerging markets. It was part of the Alliance’s ESG
Initiative where asset managers discuss tools they use to
advocate for specific outcomes with the countries and
companies they invest in.

5. On September 11, the Alliance held a Debt Sustainability
and Governance Forum where a panel of speakers discussed
options for emerging markets debt relief. They included
Edward Cuipa from the U.S. Treasury, Doerte Doemeland
from the World Bank, and Schwan Badirou Ghafari from the
Paris Club. The discussion also highlighted ways to improve
debt oversight and broaden fiscal transparency in emerging
markets.
