What has been Learned & Where do we go from Here?
Challenges and concerns at Humboldt State University
will make students, staff, and faculty put their best feet
forward and create the best atmosphere as possible on and
off campus. One of the major undertakings will be the
official Sustainability Report that is in the works by various
student research groups, utilizing HSU’s professional staff,
faculty, and facilities. This has not been done as
comprehensively as intended. Key Performance Indicators,
or KPI’s, are becoming more and more familiar and
pertinent in the world today. These are Economic, Social,
Governance, Ethics, and Environmental metrics that are
used to judge an organization’s performance and status
among a myriad of different but rigorous assessments and
standards for reporting financial and non-financial
frameworks. The chart to the left explores the STARS
Assessment scores for HSU’s 2013 Sustainability
curriculum. Since then, for example, HSU’s MBA program
is sustainably focused. Change is happening, and what we
are doing now impacts everyone and everything in the
future, and we will make a difference. Starting off in 1913 as
a California State Normal School Teacher’s College, HSU
today can and will positively send the ripples needed to
sustain a healthy environment and society.
Strategic Plan
There are four clear goals of The University’s official
Strategic Plan for the next five years. A number of them
have been addressed in this document and will also be
integrated into the Sustainability Report that is being
written. Objectives 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 3.2 and 4.1 are well worth
noting and can be associated with the graphs, tables,
charts and discussions in these four pages. The "Student
Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act“ helps with
disclosure on graduation rates of certificate- or degree-
seeking, full-time students entering a prospective
institution. Because of this, data is easy to find and make
use of in impact assessments and performance scoring.
The main themes of these objectives are to emphasize
HSU’s commitment to creating well-being for its student
body and the employees and educators of the institution,
and also for the local and global communities, urban and
rural. The great beneficiary of all will be the Planet.
