INK vs MATILDA
The film Matilda can be compared to INK because both films have scenes which are set in a school. A Schools
characteristics carry a safe environment for children who are being educated . However, both the films are a
juxtaposition of a real school environment. In Matilda, most of the adults portrayed in her world are mean and
show no compassion towards her . Miss Trunchball, Matilda’s mean teacher can be compared to Mr Cross who
is one of the main characters in INK they both the same characteristics of being evil and cunning. Both of the
films are deceptive and brings a sense of escapism for the audience as they do not see what they expect to see
during a normal school day.
INK has comedic features for example, Mr cross and Ed have a fetish for pens. It is not normal to have a strong
desire for pens . There is also one theme in INK where Ed and Mr Cross plan to rob pens. This is funny because
they had a very clear and clever motive in order to steal pens. Matilda also has comedic features. Instead of
having a smart teacher, Matilda is smarter than her teacher. The normal stereotype of well educated and
behaved teachers have reversed.

adult’. The antagonist uses or dislikes children resulting to the attitude
they display in front of children.

The antagonist in INK differs from the antagonist in Matilda as Mr cross
is a man & Mrs Trunchball is a woman who has manlike feature and
characteristics.
