Key Facts:
Played corner for the majority of all four years.
Occasionally played SS in situations and sophomore year
entered the rotation at linebacker for UNI.
UNI ran a 4-3 Cover 2 man coverage.
Best fitted in press-man technique.
Named to A.P. FCS All American First Team.
Has started at three different positions on defense
throughout his four years.
Contributes on special teams mainly as kick returner.
Recovered onside junior year.
2. Of 13 total picks, four were returned for touchdowns.
2015 Missouri Valley Defensive Player of the Year***
Ability to play multiple positions and height (6’2) offer
extreme versatility making him more marketable to
execs.
UNI coach Mark Farley stated he could start at any
position in secondary in the NFL
Used as a lean rover his sophomore year. (Used to stop
opponents best player)
Interceptions: Hall recorded 6 interceptions in 2015 and 5 his
junior season combining for 11 out of his total 13 in his last
two years at UNI. 4 have been returned for touchdowns.
2015 Interceptions:
UNI vs. Eastern Washington: 4th Q 5:40, EWU 8 Yard Line
UNI vs. WIU: 3rd Q 11:16, WIU 8 Yard Line (32 Yard Return)
UNI vs. South Dakota: 3rd Q 9:45, USD 25 (26 Yard return)
UNI vs. Indiana State: 2nd Q 6:56, @ISU 32
UNI vs. Cal Poly: 1st Q 13:18, UNI 12
UNI vs. Missouri State: 2nd 7:13, MSU 29
What sticks out to me: UNI runs a 4-3 cover 2 that often has
safeties playing run first. Briefly watching him, it is evident
that his height and athleticism make him more than qualified
to play for an NFL team that runs the majority man-press
coverage. Hall made a significant impact on special teams even
though he was UNI’s top defensive talent. I witnessed him
recover an onside, make open field tackles on punt coverage,
and make significant returns. Earning the Missouri Valley
Defensive Player of the Year award certainly sticks out. Hall
uses his length to full advantage. After his junior year was
clocked running a 4.47 40 yard dash. Hall’s total tackle
numbers improved by an average increase of 17.6 a year
(total.)

After watching and researching these players, it is evident they
were invited due to their versatility and cover ability. Each
player throughout their career has made a significant special
teams contribution and has played more than one position
(Mainly in secondary.) Each player played at least some press
coverage, some more than others. I found Deiondre’ Hall to
play the most press and sparingly be used as a lean rover to
shut down the most dangerous receiver on the opposing team.
Four of the nine invitees played their senior year in the FCS.
