Johnstown, Pennsylvania, resident John Kriak served several years as a clinical and retail pharmacist before he entered the industry’s training and consulting element. He currently serves as the CEO of CAMMCO, LLC, a consulting service that addresses both clinical and business issues. Outside of the office, John Kriak enjoys cross-country running. The Johnstown area hosts numerous trails and is a popular destination for running, hiking, and bicycling. Two of the trails highlight the city’s historic past. Recognized as one of America’s top trails, the Ghost Town Trail is a rail-to-trail conversion in Blacklick Creek Valley that follows the railroad’s path to various now-shuttered coal mines and industrial facilities, including two enormous iron furnaces. The main body of the trail, about 32 miles long, winds past mountain streams through cool woodlands. The famous 1889 Johnstown Flood occurred after days of heavy rain weakened the South Fork Dam until it burst. The floodwaters destroyed everything in their path and overwhelmed the city 11 miles away. The Path of the Flood Trail follows the watercourse. Punctuated with scenic views and educational markers, the trail offers challenging grades before reaching its end at the Johnstown Flood Museum.
