2. What is Climate Change?
Climate change is a long-term
change in the earth’s overall
temperature with massive
and permanent ramifications.

Main Human Activities That Emit
Greenhouse Gases
Deforestation not only
emits greenhouse gases
but it gets rid of plants,
trees and forests which
actually absorb CO2.
Burning fossil fuels is one
of the largest pollutants of
carbon emissions.
Solid waste landfills are
some of the largest
pollutants of methane gas
Massive amount of
excrement produced by
livestock farms emit
methane which is 23
times effective at trapping
heat than CO2.

7. What Can We Do?
Eat plant-based
more frequently
Consider making
a habit of
telecommuting
Make your home
more energy
efficient

carbon footprint

8. What is Carbon Footprint?
A carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gas emissions
caused by an individual, event, organization, service, or
product.
9. In Your Home
Replace incandescent light
bulbs with LED lights. They
use up to 85% less energy,
last up to 25 times longer and
are cheaper to run.
Sign up for an alternative
energy like solar or wind to
power your homes.
Turn off lights and appliances when
you’re not using them. Turn off
appliances at the power outlet to
reduce even more energy. Putting
them to sleep is second best.
Refuse what you do not need.
Reduce what you do need.
Reuse what you consume.
Recycle what you cannot refuse,
reduce, or reuse.
Rot (compost) the rest.
A tree can absorb as much as 22
kg of CO2 per year. So, if each
person plants at least 1 tree per
month, we could cut down our
carbon footprint by 15%.
It takes lots of energy to
pump, treat, and heat water.
So saving water reduces
greenhouse gas emissions.
10. Drive less. Going
carless for a year
could save about 2.6
tons of CO2.
Try taking a train, bus,
or better yet ride a
bike or walk.
Go easy on the gas
and breaks. Regularly
service your car to
keep it more
efficient. Carpool.
Fly less, go economy
class or switch to
telecommuting
instead.
On The Road, In The Sky
Switch to a hybrid or
electric car if possible
or use alternative
fuels like biodiesel.
11. On Your Plate
Weighing your
options
Cut down on meat, red meat
in particular or eat a vegan
diet.
Choose organic and local
food. Reduce your food
waste.
Eat less meat or
no meat at all

The average person can prevent
the emission of about
1.5 tons
of CO2 into the atmosphere by
replacing an omnivorous diet with
a vegan diet.
12. “The climate crisis has already been
solved. We already have the facts and
solutions. All we have to do is to wake
up and change.”
