3. Meaning
Yagya is a sanskrit word that has three meanings
Divinity : refined personality, divine virtues
Organization : unity, cooperation, team spirit
Charity : generous sharing, devotion to society and considering the whole universe as
one’s own family
3
In Nutshell, Yagya means selfless sacrificing of the ego, selfishness & adopt rational thinking,
human compassion & dedicated creativity for the welfare of all
Or (Conceptual meaning)
Process of refinement of subtle energy existing in the matter with the help of thermal energy and the
Cosmic energy of Sound of the Mantras.
4. • A Yagya is a combination of rituals those were widely performed in Vedic
era by everyone as a duty towards the nature, for prevention of evil
planetary influences as well as to have a successful and bliss spiritual life.
• Sages were performing these Yagyas as their routine
• The rituals or small Yagyas are still performed in India in all the occasions
like festivals & sacraments etc.
What is Yagya
5. Components of Yagya
1. Timings- Yagya performed at the time of sunrise & sunset
2. Mantras- All alphabets of Sanskrit have special vibration power which set harmonious wave patterns.
Vibrations penetrate energy spheres at subtle & cosmic levels (Dr. Howard Steingull, Recitation of Gayatri Mantra
produces 110,000 sound waves per second)
3. Samagri- Comprised of medicinal herbs (Brahmi,Ashwgandha,Shankhpushpi,Giloy,Cloves,Gugal),Odoriferous substances
(Camphor,Saffron,Jayphal,IllayachiCardamom),Healthy Constituents (Ghee, Cereals, fruits),Sweet Substances (Sugar, HoneyHJaggery)
4. Samidha- Sandalwood (Santalum Album),Mango (Mangifera Indica),Peepal (Ficus Religiosa),Deodar (Cendrys Libani),Palash (Butea
Frondosa),Gular (Ficus Glomerata),Bargad (Ficus Benghalensis),Shami (Proposis Spicigera),Agar & Tagar (Aquilana Malaccensis &
Valeriana Wallichi)
5. Hawan Kund- Inverted Pyramid Shaped Agni kunda-To generate & store a special energy field, which acts as bacteriostatic &
antimicrobial reactor. Allows controlled generation & multidirectional dissipation of energy to surrounding. It is the link between fire,
heat & electro-magnetic force.

cures diseases
8. • Yajna elevates the vital energy in the atmosphere
• The energy(prana) expands all around in the open
space through the energised spaces
• This prana is dissolved in air
**The larger the scale of yajna & longer their duration
the greater will be the sublime & gross effects.

The positive vibration of mantras are taken up in spiral form by up bound
heat radiation & collision of sonic waves to atmosphere(cosmic level)
The fumigation of specific substances
in the Yagna --- fire is a scientific
method of subtulization of matter into
energy and expanding its potential and
positive effects in the surrounding
atmosphere.
The cosmic energy of sound
contained in Mantra is activated and
expanded with the help of Yagna.
Stress hormone “Cortisol” get

■ Removal of foul odors: Diffusion of substances like thymol, eugenol, pine, terpinol and oils of sandal-wood, camphor and
clove.
■ Helps in cloud formation
■ Purification of Water & Soil -The Yagya vapours clustered on clouds are enshowered in rivers & ponds which Purify the
water resources & Enrich the water resources with vital elements
■ Removal of bacteria:
■ Formaldehyde is antiseptic and has disinfectant property
■ Formic acid & Acetic acid are produced which are good disinfectants and used as preservatives.
■ Removal of insects: Volatile oils drives non bacterial insects like flies, ringworm, dice etc away or kills them.
■ Effects on Vegetation:
■ Agnihotra Farming methods
■ Ash as fertilizer
■ Role of CO2 produced
■ CO2 produced as slow combustion process helps vegetation
■ Stimulant for patients suffering from ventilation problems

13. !! Yagya, Health & Diseases !!
3 Mechanisms through which Yagya impacts the heath of Human Beings:
1. Inhalation Therapy- When warm moist air (steam) is applied to the nose & throat, it begins to thin the mucous
& drain the sinuses. It is a fast acting process, without the bothersome side effects of drowsiness or rebound
congestation.
2. Ionic Therapy- +ve ions causes suffocation, sickness, agitated & aggressiveness as often found in
crowded spots.-ve ions are found in breezy atmosphere(on hills, green villages, cool sea beaches, natural waterfall).
It is found of the order of 200-400 negative ions/cm3 at green belts of forest & cool & green sea-beaches .
3. Phytochemicals/Antioxidant- Antioxidants terminate these chain reaction by removing free radicals & inhibit other
oxidation reactions.

15. !! Yagya, Health & Diseases !!
■ Experimental studies show that the incidence of physical ailments, sickness and disease are reduced in the houses,
where the Yagna (Agnihotra) is regularly performed because it creates a pure, nutritional and medicinal atmosphere.
■ It renews the brain cells, revitalizes the skin, purifies blood and prevents growth of pathogenic organisms.
■ Agnihotra is basically a healing process. ‘Heal the atmosphere and the healed atmosphere will heal you.
■ Pulmonary drug-administration by inhalation and infusion through skin pores through the process of yagya (agnihotra,
homam).
■ Inhalation from nose (deep breathing), mouth (chanting vedic hymns)
■ Medicine in its gaseous form is easily dispersed and gains higher potency.
■ Drugs in the form of medicinal plans offered in fire along with specific
■ vedic hymns (mantras)
■ Yagya therapy is a Preventive mechanism
■ No side effects
■ Encouraging results in the treatment of TB, Diabetes, Weak Eye Sight
■ Neurological disorders, Drug addiction
■ Effective results in treatment of Respiratory, Mental & Psychosomatic disorders

Gas Tragedy
Bhopal Gas Tragedy
The tragic incident occurred on the night of December 3,
1984 when the poisonous MIC gas leaked from Union
Carbide factory at Bhopal. Hundreds of people died and
thousands were hospitalized, but there were two families
– those of Shri Sohan Lal S. Khushwaha and Shri M. L.
Rathore, living about one mile away from the plant, who
came out unscathed. These families were regularly
performing agnihotra (havan). In these families nobody
died, nobody was even hospitalized despite being present
in the area worst affected by the leakage of the toxic gas.
