Position held: Engineering Trainer
Duties: I undertook training and assessment in meter fixing, basic wiring,
authorisation, multi skilling, substation entry, EUSR CSCS Shea (electricity), C&G
2382-10, 2382-20, 2377-200,2377-12, 2391 & 2392. I also hold the A1 Assessor
Award. In addition, I held WI-2 and AME-SS authorisations at all HV levels, SB-2 at
11, 33 and 132kV and OP-3, WI-1, SB-2 and AME-SS at LV. I carried out safety
audits on the areas for which I was responsible and completed relevant reports and
other paperwork following training. I had input to the EUSR’s SMICoP national
qualification for SMART metering. I developed and delivered a SMICoP metering
course for SPMSO, a Single Premise course for SPEN and have co-designed
several new courses for ER, including Asset Condition Recognition and an Auditing
and Mentoring course. I also delivered the A3059, Temporary Service Loop course,
Abrasive Wheels and Trailer Towing Refresher. My responsibilities also included
regular reviewing and updating of courses with which I was involved. I also spent
some time of developing my knowledge of micro generation with a particular focus on
safety implications for those operating on SP’s LV system at the customer interface. I
regularly updated my workshops, designed and built test boards and training bays to
keep up with business needs. From time to time, I was consulted for advice on
training and Health and Safety matters. I was also asked occasionally to evaluate
tools and equipment being considered for purchase, or to recommend solutions to

Duties: All aspects of meter fixing. I also operated as Deputy Field Team Supervisor,
West Asset for four years and have performed data collection and debt advisory
duties as required. I developed and delivered some training on meter accuracy
testing while with Dataserve. I was also a mentor, training and coaching new meter
fixers in the early part of their career. In 2006, I was seconded for a six month period
as Field Team Supervisor, West Asset, managing a team of around 26 operatives,
including planning of resources, disciplinary matters and performance management.

supplies was included.
External Interests
I was been involved in the sport of Rugby Union for over 45 years. I coached and
refereed, and retired from playing in 2007. I also managed my rugby club’s 2nd
& 3rd
XVs. I hold several coaching and refereeing certificates and am a past member of the
West of Scotland Rugby Referees’ Society. Presently, I am working to introduce
women’s rugby to the area. I was an administrator for my club’s website, writing
match reports for the site and for the local press. I enjoy walking and I am a member
of the National Trust for Scotland and The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. I
am also a keen reader, a music lover and dabble in creative writing. When I have the
time, I indulge in fly fishing. My most recent venture has been into the world of aerial
photography, having purchased a camera drone.
