Japan launched two microsatellites, Sat Sunbird-1 and Sat Sunbird-2, as part of its space program. The Sat Sunbirds were deployed from the Kibo laboratory module of the International Space Station to perform imaging and technology demonstrations in low Earth orbit. The launch of these microsatellites allows Japan to test new satellite technologies and capabilities from the International Space Station.
