2. About the dataset
● The datasets we selected come from Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention.
● 2015, 2016 and 2006 as a comparison.
● Each dataset contains general information (e.g. place of death, date of death),
decedent information (e.g. gender, race, age, education, marital status, etc.),
underlying cause of death(e.g. diseases, incidents, etc.), injury conditions.
● Data pre-process: Dataset Parse, Missing Values, detect outliers, stack, etc.
3. Project Motivation & Objectives
1. What ICD-10 codes most commonly occur?
2. Which fatal diseases and injuries co-occur most often?
3. What are common sequences of fatal diseases and injuries, grouped by the leading
causes of death?
4. Analyze the sequence of co-occurrences and/or sequences changed across time
(2006 and 2016)
4. Our Methodologies
Methodology Explanation Tools
Association Analysis Discover rules that indicate the likely
occurrence of an item based on the
occurrences of other items in the transaction
SAS JMP Pro
Sequential Analysis Finding sequence patterns, associations,
correlations, or causal structures among sets of
items in transaction databases within the same
level
