About the Area
Sedgwick County is in the extreme
northeastern corner of Colorado, a
primarily agricultural area. The
county is made up of three
different towns, Julesburg, Ovid
and Sedgwick with a total
popula on of almost 2,400. The
county is serviced by two interstate
highways, I‐76 and I‐80. Highway
138 runs on the north side of the
South Pla e River, paralleling I‐76.
Highway 385 runs north‐south
through Julesburg. Highway 59
runs south from Sedgwick through
Phillips County.

Jumbo Reservoir
Jumbo Reservoir is located less than 9 miles west of
Sedgwick. This reservoir is a 1,200‐acre lake located
in the northeast corner of Colorado. It is a popular
outdoor recrea on spot known for its camping,
boa ng and year‐round fishing. Filled by a canal in
the winter and drawn down for irriga on during the
summer, water levels vary so boaters must be aware
of water hazards during the summer months.

Sedgwick Antique Inn & Cha Cha’s
Built in the 1920’s, this beau ful contains 15
bedrooms, a large dining hall, an old bank vault
and is very Victorian and full of an ques. Cha Cha’s
is located in the dining hall of the building and is a
Mexican buffet that was started in July of 2013.

Lucy’s Place
Just off exit 165 on Interstate 80 the café sits on
a hill overlooking the South Pla e River Valley.
Lucy’s Place was first opened on July 7, 1987.
Lucy earned her cooking creden als during
large roundup branding opera ons on the Price
Ranch. Famous through three genera ons for
standard and exo c livestock, the ranch
con nues to raise about 40 head of buffalo
(bison). Emray Price, Lucy’s father‐in‐law,
started the herd in the 1940s. This delicacy is
included on the menu and well as many other
home cooked meals.

2. Airport
Julesburg has a municipal airport with
lighted runways that can service small
corporate jets. Sedgwick County is about 2.5
hours and approximately 178 miles from

Lake McConaughy
Julesburg is located approximately 45 miles
from Lake McConaughy in Ogallala, Nebraska.
Lake McConaughy is Nebraska’s biggest lake and
the largest reservoir in a four state region. At
full storage, Lake Mac is twenty miles long, four
miles wide, and 142 feet deep at the dam. Built
on the edge of the Nebraska Sandhills, Lake Mac
offers natural white sand beaches, excellent
fishing, boa ng, camping and all types of
outdoor recrea on.

22 acre grassed parcel, has many shades trees, covered picnic area and a restroom facility located
just south of Julesburg’s business district along State HWY 385. This lake is stocked annually with
fish for the enjoyment of licensed fishers. Swimming, hun ng, ice ska ng, ice fishing, alcoholic
beverages and motorized vehicles are prohibited.

Sugar Factory
Si ng on over 60 acres of land, the old
Sugar Factory built in 1926 was owned
by the Great Western Sugar Co. The
area had proven that it could
successfully grow beets but the crops
had to be transported for processing so
Great Western decided to build a new
state of the art factory to accommodate
the NE Colorado area growers. In 1985
the factory shutdown and was sold to
Amalgamated Sugar Co., LLC in
November of 1986. Today the factory is
used as a storage facility.
D & L Meat, Co.
Opened in 1974, D & L Meat Co. is a custom harvest and
processing facility in Ovid, CO. The family owned meat
locker provides custom processing of beef, hogs, sheep and
goats as well as retail meats. This facility is the home of the
world famous Rocky Mountain Oysters and amazing bacon.
Kelley Bean, Co.
Kelley Bean is an employee and family owned
company founded in 1927 in Morrill, NE that
processes and sells the dry edible beans which are
sourced directly from its local community of grower
partnerships.
Revere School District
Founded in 1966, this facility received the BEST (Building Excellent Schools Today) grant in 2012.
This funding allowed the district to build onto and renovate the original structure. In 2014 the
process was complete and allowed for grades preschool through 12th grade to be on one campus
with access to modern technology.
