DAILY ACTIVITY
The program is started on 4th
January 2016 until 16th
January 2016. The detail is as listed below:
Monday, January 4th
2016
We departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport on 10.00 A.M and arrived at Changi Airport, Singapore on 12.00 P.M. We did
not fly directly to Johor Bahru because there is no flight to Johor Bahru on that day and it was cheaper to fly to Singapore
first then continue with bus.
After arriving at Changi Airport, we continued with coach bus to Johor Bahru CIQ then took a walk to Johor Bahru City
Square. Professor Kamaludin and Ms. Syukriah picked us up. Professor Kamaludin is a professor in FGRE UTM in GNSS
& Geodynamics Research Group and friend of our professors in ITB, and Ms. Syukriah is a master student in FGRE
UTM and a member of said research group. We went to Scholar’s Inn inside UTM to take a rest.

January 2016
Mr. Kamaludin picked us up to checked-in in Kolej Tuanku Chancellor, our new place to rest. After that, we visited some
research group in FGRE. We got a lot information and also experience from the student and the professor there. We got
a demonstration from student there about using TLS and new information about facial mapping using photogrammetry in
3D Measurement Lab, introduced with 3D GIS by Professor Alias in 3D GIS Lab, and got a new information about
geodesy and category in hydrographic survey from Professor Kamaludin, Professor Syahlan, and Professor Tajul. After
that, we had lunch with Mr. Dudy, our professor in ITB then back to kolej to take a rest. Mr. Dudy picked us up to have
a dinner together with his wife later at night.
Wednesday, 6th
January 2016
We had a breakfast with Ms, Syukriah in the morning. We went to FGRE to meet Professor Kamaludin in FGRE, and
then straight to Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan (JUPEM) Johor. There, we had a meeting with each head of the section to
talk about our program, JUPEM, and mapping in Malaysia. After that, we visited each section in JUPEM, trying to learn
and understand more about every section. We got a lot of useful information in every section, especially in Strata section
(because Indonesia does not have a 3D cadaster system yet). Later, we had a lunch with Professor Kamaludin and Ms.
Syukriah then back to kolej.

Balau Beach is located in east part of Johor Bahru State. It took one hour driving from Info-Geomatik (M) Sdn. Bhd.
Office into Tanjung Balau Beach. We met Mr. Hisyam as a chief surveyor the team that survey in this site.
On site we got any new experience in land surveying, such as any method surveying that used in Malaysia, land surveying
industry, and a new technology which not yet developed in Indonesia called “VRSNet”. Mr. Hisyam also gave a sharing
session about his experience in hydrography and vertical surveying industry. He is a big fans of Johor football team, Johor
Darul Ta’zim (JDT), and always watch their game live in a stadium. The football atmosphere in Johor and Bandung is
3. very similar, there is many enthusiastic football fans here. Persib Bandung (football team in Bandung) and JDT also
shared the same logo (tiger) and kit color (blue), what a coincidence!
Tueday, 12th

On the Tuesday, Mrs. Mohaini took us to saw the utility surveying in Johor Bahru. We met a chief surveyor of the utility
surveying team and he gave us an explanation about utility surveying. This is a new information for us because we do not
have a course about utility surveying back in the college.
Utility surveying is mapping any underground obstructions such as cables and pipes in a particular area. It is an integral
role in land development, from the planning and design of land subdivisions through to the final construction any object
above the landscape.
