Kenneth Schroeder & Assoc. (KSA)
630 S Dearborn, Chicago, IL 60602
Project Architect – Architect
Principal role in the rapid expansion of KSA based on our
work with the Equity Group, doing their corporate offices
and the loft conversion of the Dr. Scholl facility on the near
north side of Chicago. This 300’ x 500’ site, comprised of
twenty-three separate buildings spanning 150 years,
constituted a major chal-lenge to our small office.
Ken and I implemented decisions on the fly, as the
schedule was time sensitive to the extreme. Simplifying the
circulation through the project by locating primary entry
with forecourt off major street, by building new lobby
structure with glass elevator, by infilling the only vacant
portion of the site with new ramped parking accessing
existing warehouse on the opposite side, by constructing
new steel walkways appended to the interior court-yard
walls of the various buildings to improve way finding, we
designed a variation on the circulation of the typical high
rise lobby.
