Drug Awareness programs.
Town Government - Deputy Supervisor
*Chairman: Police study for the Town of Alden, Formed Mental Health Clinic in Alden (later
dissolved by Supervisor Jack Scherlein.
Served and Chaired the Zoning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Planning Board and the
Assessment Revue Board. *Conducted the first Neighborhood Watch Programs. *Past President:
the Alden Democratic Club.
Little League Football
*President, Director, *MC for club functions and play by play at home games.*Ran largest
fundraiser that club ever had with a booth at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Chamber of Commerce
*Former member and Director in charge of producing the first brochure and folder promoting the
Town and Village of Alden. Named as “Citizen of the Year for 2004 by the Chamber
Alden Lions Club
Member, Director, Publicity Chairman, Vice President 5 terms, President 4 terms. Donated 1000
Scratch and Sniff teaching aid kits to local club who turned them over to the National Lions club
for distribution to the Blind and Visually Impaired. Received the Robert J. Uplinger service award
in 2008. Donated a Neighborhood Watch Alarm to the Alden Club who placed it in the home of a
blind woman in Buffalo.

Performed in stage shows from 1947-49.Started acting again in 2004 and did 9 shows until 2012.

8 years in the Mobil Communications Division. Sergeant with Mobil Command Post, Division
Deputy of the Year in 1980.Received the ”Al Genuso” Award for service to the Sheriff’s
Department Badge & Shield Club in 2008. Appointed as Badge & Shield Club Quartermaster with
wife Marian in 2006
Miscellaneous
Invented a new emergency response home/vehicle alarm that has been placed in many homes in
high crime areas through grants given to a Neighborhood Watch Association. Life member of the
Judges and Police Conference.* Served on the Board of Directors for 25 years,* Editor of
Conference News for 15 years and President in 2000. Member of the Erie County Sheriffs,
Badge and Shield Club with wife Marian, The Alden American Legion and The International Police
Association. Former National Vice President for the American Federation of Police.
Presently lives with wife of 56 years, Marian and has 6 children,18 grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren.

NAMED ALDEN NEW YORK CITIZEN OF THE YEAR IN 2004 BY THE ALDEN CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE FOR OVER 40 YEARS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE
From age 16 to 18, Jerry was an Athletic Leage Director for CYO (Catholic
Youth Organization) joined the Navy reserve at 17 from 1950 to 1954 and received a Honorable
discharge in 1954 and from age 21 to 28, a member of the Buffalo Jaycees.
Joined the Erie County Sheriffs mobile Communications Division in the mid 70s and became
Sergeant while working on the conversion of a Winnebago van to a Mobile Communications
Command Post for the Department. He was named the Division Deputy of the Year in 1980. After
being involved in a head on automobile collision with a drunk driver, he developed a serious
sciatic nerve condition and could no longer wear the uniforms garrison belt without extreme pain.
As a result he had to retire early from the department in 1985. The problem also made him quit
bowling where he was very competitive. Despite the fact that the problem still exist today, he was
the oldest Silver Sneakers fitness instructor at 77. He and wife Marian are CPR certified. His wife
Marian was involved with all of his activities.

economic justice can best be one by free men through free enterprise That the
brotherhood of man trancends the sovernity of nations. That government should
be of laws rather then of men. That earths great treasurer lies in human
personality and that service to humanity, is the best work of life.
