CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY WISCONSIN REACTS TO ARTICLE
“HOW LIBERAL ARE WISCONSIN COLLEGE CAMPUSES”
MEQUON, Wis. – A recent article in The Capital Times out of Madison, “How liberal
are Wisconsin college campuses?” examined the November general election. A source
listed 21 universities around the state in which a majority of the student populations voted
for President Obama. The article claims, “There is no such thing as a ‘conservative
school’ in Wisconsin.”
The article failed to mention Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), located in
Mequon, with a student population of nearly 8,000. The reason CUW was not mentioned
with the list of universities that voted for Obama is because CUW is a conservative
campus with conservative values. According to Ozaukee County Election results, vote
totals in Wards 11 and 12 in the City of Mequon (CUW’s District) show that 63.33%
(1126 votes) voted for Republican Mitt Romney compared to the 35.7% (635 votes) who
voted for President Obama during the November election.
“As the President of the College Republicans, we take great pride in being the
conservative choice for students in the great state of Wisconsin,” said Jason Schneider.
The College Republican group at CUW has emerged as a force on campus. It is a
growing population within the student body and continues to make strides to increase
membership. The group’s mission is to fight for liberty minded individuals who values
coincide with the University’s tagline, “Inspiration in Action.”

2. and 28 foreign countries. The University offers more than 69 undergraduate majors, 14
master’s degree programs, and doctoral degrees in Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, and
