Editor's Notes
Introduce
ECG-Electrocardiogram- ECG contains waves, intervals, segments and one complex, as defined below. Wave: A positive or negative deflection from baseline that indicates a specific electrical event. The waves on an ECG include the P wave, Q wave, R wave, S wave, T wave and U wave. Interval: The time between two specific ECG events.
TTE -Transthoracic Echocardiogram
V1-4th intercostal space to the right of the sternum
V2- 4th intercostal space to the left of the sternum
V3-directly between the leads V2 & V4
V4- 5th intercostal space at midclavicular line
V5- level with V4 at left anterior axillary line
V6- level with V5 at left midaxillary line (directly under the midpoint of the armpit)
2D echocardiography, popularly called 2D echo, is a non-invasive test used to analyze the functioning and assess the sections of your heart. This test gives images of the different parts of the heart with the help of sound vibrations. It assists in checking damages, blockages, and blood flow rate.
The lab technician applies a colorless gel and moves the transducer across the various parts of the chest to evaluate the sound vibrations with a transducer
The gel assists the transducer have views of the heart, its tissues, and its structures
The gel is cleaned off after the test
