Personal Statement
As a hardworking and enthusiastic young person, I feel I can excel in any scenario, always making the best of every
situation, despite adversities. I thrive in a working environment, not only under pressure, but also as part of a team, and
feel my natural leadership skills allow me to engage effectively in any task, with a smile and a strong work ethic.
Challenges only motivate me to strive further for success, and helping others not only fulfills me but also drives me to
achieve more myself.
Being elected Head Girl of the JCoSS 6th form emphasizes my likability as a person, aside from academia. I get on well
with people, enjoying listening to different ways of thinking and new experiences accelerate my curiosity. I am a confident
speaker, reflected in my achievement as the Barnet Jack Petchey Speak out Champion for 2013-2014. My proficiency in
public speaking has enabled me to communicate well with others and convey ideas with clarity. On a recent trip to Israel, I
won the ‘Most Outstanding Soldier’ award, on the Gadna army base, in which I stayed and lived as a soldier for a week;
this taught me discipline, respect and perseverance. As a learning mentor to students in the lower school, my skills as a
role model are conveyed, with this position inspiring me to want to work with younger children and teaching me to interact
in different ways with an alternative demographic.
My time management and organizational skills are exquisite, with my attention to detail being impeccable. In every aspect
of my personality, I am a kind and caring person, with a desire to please and a want to succeed.

Through the schools Gifted and Talented programme, I was given the opportunity to be a part of the Brilliant Club, in
which we toured universities, had personal tutorials and wrote university style dissertations. I was lucky enough to
participate in tis scheme in 2013 and 2014, in which I received a Distinction, for ‘Most Outstanding Scholar’ both years.
This heightened my appetite to be part of a top university institution, and drives me to strive for excellence, in all aspects
of life.
Work Experience
As an avid academic, in conjunction with my interest in enhancing the education of young people, I started my own
tutoring business, which I have been running for about a year. This emphasizes business acumen, as well as showcasing
my ability to help and inspire people, by being a good role model. I enjoy teaching students how best to work and revise,
analytical skills useful in essay based subjects, as well as scientific subjects, as they fascinate me. My tutoring business
conveys my initiative and demonstrates my reliability, commitment and flexibility.
Volunteering at Redridge JCC, through the MIKE scheme developed my leadership skills. The programme involved
leading a summer camp for 4-11 year olds, in which a team of young people entertained the children, in a safe and
exciting environment.
Hobbies and Interests
In my spare time I enjoy playing sports such as badminton, table tennis and netball. I was part of the school netball team
from year 7-11, and am currently in the process of setting up a 6th form team to compete in the league. As well as this, I
enjoy walking, often with my two dogs, and as a keen animal lover, I find it exciting to explore new places with the
puppies. Films and music make up a huge part of who I am. As a budding singer, music is always around me as a hobby
that can be shared and loved between friends and family.
I also enjoy travelling, and in the summer of 2015 spent a month touring Israel with a youth movement, where I met loads
of new friends, hiked mountains, and went sight seeing. As a Jewish person the trip gave me insight into my half of my
heritage. The other half comes from my Caribbean roots; having family there means lots of time spent traveling to
paradise, which has given mea rounded sense of identity, as both a Jew and a Caribbean.
